What's the difference between a Case Study and a Step-by-Step blueprint?

Or are they one and the same? Sorry if it's a dumb question, just trying to get my IM terminology on par!

    A step-by-step blueprint is about what anyone can do anytime.

    The major difference is that a case study can talk about actual numbers, because it's not predicting that anyone else will make them. It's just reporting what happened to this one person this one time.

    A case study is a study of a specific case.

    A step-by-step blueprint is a blueprint that shows you, step-by-step, how to do something.

    I'm not trying to be a smart-ass...that's pretty much what they are, whether it's for IM or not.
