Choosing Multiple Domain Name Endings, .asia, .tv, .com., .org...to get more traffic?

Hello:

I have heard the advice about choosing domain name endings such as .com, .org, and .net as those which are the best ones to choose.

I wonder why .tv is so expensive? If I choose that one what advantage would it give me? What about .ws ? What countries or words do they stand for? What advantage are they (if any) versus .com, .org, .net?

Also, if I found that 3,000 people a month were typing in the key word:
sunnybeach, there was little competition, the adwords were paying a decent amount, and the .com and .net and .org were already taken for that key word..... but I found that the domain sunnybeaches.com and .net and .org were not taken then those would be good ones to get.

If I purchased the domain sunnybeaches.asia from a Malaysia hosting company and pointed it to my web site which also had the domains
sunnybeaches.org , .net, and .com etc. pointing to my web site and those were purchased in the U.S., would the .asia one hosted in Malaysia give me any advantage with search traffic from Asia?

Thanks

I wouldn't waste my money on any but .com, .net, .org and occasionally, .info. .TV are great if you plan on developing a rich media site with lots of video, etc.

So in that case it would be better for me to choose a domain (one that I was not buying to sell at some point in the future) with as small of an add on as possible to get the .com or .net or .org domain name.

For example, instead of going for sunnybeaches.asia when I wanted to get the keyword sunnybeach then the best way to do it would maybe just get
sunnybeachi.com and I would have the key word and just adding the small i would get me the .com domain ending also.

What do you guys and gals think about this?

The only reason to buy alternative domains is to prevent your competitors from getting them... ;-)

If you want more traffic, buy some with that money instead.

I agree. I don't necessarily see it to be completely necessary to buy multiple domains, though. ".com" and ".net" are the best ones, in my opinion, as ".org" is more for an organization, non-profit, at least it is in my eyes. I don't necessarily connect that with any type of business. So, it really depends on what niche you are in.

Actually, its not a bad idea at all. It can become even better, if you start thinking more globally - why not, instead of redirecting, make a bunch of sister local sites.
Then, with such regional domains you will be able to get high positions in local Google search much easier than with your main .com site.

The only cons is that you need to spend lots of effort to make the content and the site on these regianal domains right.
