Can Someone Teach Me How To Write A "Resource Box" Please?

I want to be able to make the reader really, really, really want to click through to the next page! I think this is one of the most important, if not THE most important thing so I'm really serious in wanting to get this right and all I want are some opinions from people....

But I don't know how to write a high conversion resource box:

For example, if you were really um, "big-boned", which one of these would most likely click on if order for you to WANT to click to the next page? Just testing...

As you can see, I believe that even the slightest of words can change the tone of your sentence.

So please, if you can, POST something like 1.a 2.c 3.d 4.e

And also, if you can offer any tips on how to write a more effective resource box than any of these, that would also be very helpful too.

Looking forward to see the post results, thanks!

(PS I'm not trying to be offensive to any larger people here, I don't want to start any trouble with anyone, in fact I weight 140lbs myself)

You need to be a little more specific. That is a super competitive market and people are constantly bombarded with "lose weight" stuff. In order for a person to want to click your link they have to believe you are offering something special or really different. Ask yourself, "Why should they click my link as opposed to all the other weight loss stuff they saw today? Try to up come with 3 or 4 reasons.

What benefit will they get by clicking? If your article is 5 tips to lose 10 pounds you could offer 5 more tips on your site. You could also write up a special report to give them. Here is an example...

My new report is getting rave reviews. It reveals 3 secret techniques that will show you how to easily lose 2.5 pounds of fat every week. Get your copy here MyWeightLossReport.com.

Of course, I just made that up as an example, be sure to always tell the truth. You can't just make stuff up.

Another way to do it is to create strong curiosity. If you are doing a review you can say something like. At Weight Loss for Idiots they claim you will lose 9 pounds in 11 days. Is it true? Find out the real story here MyWeightLossSite.com

One last tip...Always speak from a position of strength. If you decided to promote a product it must be pretty good right? If you believe it's good you have to act like it's the best product out there and the prospect would be lucky to have it. Never beg the prospect by saying please, please, please or anything like that. Remember if they click it's not because they want to do something nice for you. All they care about is what's in it for them.

    Hope that helps,

    I see.

So you need to have something to offer the reader like "a free report."

Once you have that you can say, "Go to this website now."

Or something similar to "Please enter here to get a free report"!

    as a resource box.

You could just say something like, "get it here". You will want use your keyword as anchor text like this.

...get it here lose 2.5 pounds per week

I don't know what kind of persuasive writing method that I use but let me just copy (little changes to the niche) what I used. My CTR stands at 12% and its moving up so if you are lower than that, you can try mine out.

Tired about not being able to apply for a loan just because your credit sucks? Click on <link with anchored text> now as on the other side, we will show you how to apply for payday loans for FREE!

Yes, you pay nothing and no credit check is required at all. You are only required to fill up a form and steps to secure payday loan will be shown to you in no time. Click on <http:// link> now.
The link will then be directed to a CPA offer landing page.

    Hi cloudchaser,

Personally I would first visit established article directories like ezinearticles.com and check out the more popular articles in your niche.

Let's say you narrow down to the top 5 best articles.

Check out their resource boxes and ask yourself what is it you like about it.

Model (not copy) the part which you think is the better ones.

There is no need to reinvent the wheel. Many times, we just have to sit and observe the successful models around us and model after them.

This helps you save lots more time and effort.

    My 2 cents,
    John

      Cloudchaser,

I personally wouldn't use any of those, but 4d and 4e are probably a little better than the others. I definitely would not use the word "please"...sort of sounds like you are begging....

I'm not assuming weight loss is your actual niche, but to go with your examples, you need to qualify it a bit. For example...tons of people (no pun intended!) want to lose weight, but you need to go beyond just "if you want to lose weight...". Give them some urgency...like if they desparately want to lose 10 pounds in time for their vacation, wedding, etc.. or, "if you want to know the fastest way to shed those ugly 20 pounds..." Or something that makes them curious as to what is different in your offer than the millions of others out there....(probably a lot easier in other niches than weight loss)....not sure if I am making sense here... but all yours are too basic. They wouldn't make me want to click through, because there's nothing unique or different or urgent. They are not compelling.

Also, "tired of" works well (like Wayne's example)... "tired of struggling to get into your favorite pair of jeans..." or "tired of your boyfriend drooling over thinner women..." (you get the idea...grab their emotions a bit...) ...these aren't great...just off the top of my head...

Last of all, no matter how great your resource / bio box is, if your article is bad or isn't compelling, the reader may stop before they ever get to your resource box, so don't just put all your emphasis on that!

Seems to me that if the article is good in the first place, the readers will want to click that link for more information anyway... assuming that the link is relevant to what your article offers.

Why make the recourse box do all the work?

Have you asked yourself how your target market prefers to be pitched?

      They all suck.

I've been writing killer resource boxes for years. My articles generate 67%
      of my yearly income.

Here's the formula that works like gangbusters for me, depending on who I
am reaching, and yes, that is the key.

Tired of looking like a beached whale? Sick of dragging your body upstairs
and needing to go on oxygen afterwards? Go to my site at <URL> and
turn yourself into a lean mean fighting machine in less time than it takes
for a politician to tell another lie.

That's one. You have to know who this is targeting. Read the box. See if
you can visual the prospect who would respond to this.

THAT is how your article has to be written too. Same tone.

You have many different markets in the lose weight niche.

You've got kids, yuppies, older people, and so on. Each one is going to
      respond differently.

So you have to dig into your long tail keywords like weight loss for kids,
      etc.

That's how you write an article and a resource box that kick ass.

When I write my articles, my resource box is not really seperated from the article, but is the closing paragraph.

Write your article. Take the last paragraph off. Make it slightly salesy and throw in your links.

When you submit your article, submit the last paragraph of the article as your resource box.

I haven't submitted a lot of articles, but the ones I have submitted bring mid to high 20% ctr. I know it's not the best, but better than a lot.

The effective way I've found to give the best results is this...

Start with a question that the readers has to answer yes to.

e.g. Do you want more people to visit your blog?

Follow with an offer of useful information that they'll get by visiting your website. Then simply have your website link.

    Example...
