Wordpress Vs Drupal from SEO point of view ...

As much as wordpress is preferred and loved by most bloggers, I just got my hands on Drupal and migrated my content from my blog to my site. I now see more traffic on quality keywords on the Drupal than I did on my blog. One reason why this could be true is because of the structuring of a Drupal site ... It's more like a site, but you input content just like you do on a blog:

- hit the Create Content link, select type of page - Page, Story, Forum Post, Blog or Poll, enter type your content, select which menu do you want it to be linked from, use URL Alias to give a SEO friendly name to the page and you are done.

Installing Drupal can be just a little more work than wordpress as you can install wordpress directly from your cpanel, but the end result seems more promising to me ...

Would love to hear from others who have used both ...

That's really interesting. I tried to do a little something with Drupal but I stuck with Wordpress because it was so much easier for me to work with.

Maybe I'll start playing with Drupal again.

I would also like to know how Joomla compares - anyone have any thoughts on this?

No offense to Joomla lovers ... but Joomla has a learning curve involved ... Plus I am not sure how it compares to Wordpress or Drupal as far as SEO goes.

I would compare Drupal over Joomla, as Simple Machines Forum (SMF) over PhpBB Forum.

Ever since I used Drupal, I'm just in love with it. The more you research with the modules, it just opens up new doors for you. I have migrated 4 - 5 sites from custom html to Drupal now ...

What structure are you talking about -- what do you mean, "more like a site"? Statements like these are SO frustrating. WordPress just spits out stuff you tell it to spit out -- just like Drupal, Joomla, Mambo, Expression Engine, or Donkey Kong.

The sites I do in WordPress are indistinguishable from the sites I do in straight HTML by hand (which isn't many, any more). They validate to XHTML Strict, the CSS validates, etc., they use the same basic structure. You can't tell the difference by looking (unless some plugin injects some commented crap in the <head section).

The SEO characteristics/quality of the template or theme are what makes the difference. If you were using a crappily crafted WP theme, and you've switched to a decently-thought-out Drupal template, that would easily account for the difference you're seeing.

If you make a WP template that outputs the exact same HTML as a Drupal template, how's Google going to know the difference?

If you want to have a good blog or you want to create a website that not have to much special futures like Shopping Cart, online payment etc, Wordpress will be good.

But, if you need an advance website that have advance applications, Drupal will be good. Since drupal have a comment plugin, i really love to learn it

I use both joomla and wordpress. My wordpress content seems to be getting indexed quicker (and I am auto-pinging new content on my joomla site).

I am curious if to hear what somebody that has used both joomla and drupal (beyond the "learning curve") has to say about how the two stack up against each other.
