I need to learn WordPress. Help?!

Okay, I had someone offer to make me a WordPress Blog for free. Problem is, I'd like to start adding and changing the content but I have no clue. I've used Dreamweaver and FrontPage to make my own websites in the past. There was a long learning curve and I was told that WordPress is easier to use and get sites up and running faster.

So my question is: Does anyone know where I can get some free info or e-books on how to use WordPress?

Thanks for the suggestions.

P.S. Sorry if I put this thread in the wrong place on the forum. I wasn't sure what category it fit into so please feel free to move it if required.

Yea youtube is a very easy way for you to learn how to use wordpress. That's where I find out things when I come to a road block in my website building. All the best.

    Amazon.com - books - wordpress for dummies

I'am not trying to be rude, but the dummies books are easy to read and follow. If your just getting into a topic, the dummies books are difficult to beat.

I'm just like you, slowrider. As others have recommended, YouTube is good if you prefer to have a visual reference you can follow and learn rather quickly.

If you prefer a printed reference you can follow, just type this in the search field of your browser:

    filetype pdf + Wordpress tutorial

You will find a lot of free PDF documents that give step-by-step tutorials you can use as a guide. Hope this helps.

Thanks Chris but just looking for the free stuff right now. I don't mind paying more for great detailed info. once I already know the basics.

The Wordpress Codex is free - it's the official WP documentation, and should be your first stop.

Joining the WP forum is another good move - members are usually more than happy to help you tweak code and sort out problems.

YouTube is also your friend here - lots of knowledgeable people showing off that knowledge.

Lorelle's WP blog is another prime resource, both as a primary source and a source for links to other good blogs.

The best advice I can give you is to maintain one blog just for experimenting, tweaking and just plain messing around. Take what you learn there and apply it to your other sites.
