Would you buy a domain for a keyword with 20 searches a day?

If the keyword is getting around 20 exact match searches and 40 phrase match searches daily, is it worth buying a .com exact match domain?

That's about 600 searches a month (exact). Now, if it is a very high converting niche where you can make a lot of money from a few visitors I would. If it pays almost nothing, I wouldn't.

If I'm in a niche my goal is to dominate so I'm going to get my hands on every viable exact match keyword domain I can (For me to use and to take options away from my competition.)

      Hi,

as mentioned above it depends. It isn't only about that one keyword, but also about the other keywords within the long tail. If there is enough demand and people are more likely to spend money, get it. Also have a close look on competition. What are your chances to make it to page one and position one? If their is no competition, I wouldn't spend my time, as their is normally no money to make ;-)

Do a quick keyword research or hire sbdy. from the warriors for hire section and make your choice. Their is a great guide by fellow warrior Kok (forgot his surname) called nuclear traffic maximizer (not affiliated, but I have bought it and it rocks). As said, make some short analyzes and then get it or leave it.

I bought domains like candy before, only for canceling them after doing nothing before. Nowadays I buy them and have them up and running within hours... This makes the difference. So only get it when you have enough time to do something with it!

      Best and to your success

600 searches for a keyword, quite interesting. But still it depends upon the niche which is under consideration.

I would buy it for sure if it will be a keyword based on some seo friendly activity. I love to take it at any cost unless it would earn me a million bucks.

A relevant keyword can make our website possibly more traffic driven & lets the Third parties to sponsor those websites

      ofcourse i will buy it.

Because at 600 searches a month you could convert a lot of money with a good product.

If people are searching it then they must need it
the product may not bring in thousands but if you have 10 similar sites in different niches then it will bring in good money.

60 searches is excellent if its a buyer keyword but that if you know what is a buyer keyword though. because the small search will convert to sales and you will completely dominate the niche.

    Not at all.

I would rather buy one that has ~2000 searches per day. Then, I would
SEO it for the very same keyword, along with 15-20 keywords with 20-200 or even
    more searches a day.

How much is the domain name going for? The normal $9.5 domain?

      If yes, grab it fast!

I was about to say the same thing here... there is nothing to loose but $10 bucks...

unless you are talking about a domain that is for resale costing a couple of hundreds or thousands... then you really need to think how you are going to monetize it...

  • If it's a keyword with high commercial intention such as "Affordable divorce lawyer in Atlanta", then you bet I would!

It depends on the competition, and how much you can get paid.

If you didn't have to do any work to get to #1 then I'd say sure, but if it's going to require work then I'm with Karan on this one and would rather put the effort into something with more buyers.

At #1 you might get 10 visitors a day - how many can you convert? 1%, 2% - 10%? How much will you get paid for each sale?

Your question is too broad for a reasoned response. I've bought .com's with less traffic than that. It all depends on whether the keyword is a buyer keyword and whether or not I can outrank the sites already ranked at the top of Google for it.

Others here would probably buy a domain. What do I personally do? Start a Hub on hubpages about it and promote related products (or THE product if its a buyer keyword).

Are your numbers before or after calculating User Search Data?

I need to head off, so I will just post part of a post I made in another thread here:

Roughly between 9% and 14% of the searchers that type a keyword or phrase into Google never finish their search. They realized that they made a mistake, the phone rang, the power went out...

So start off deducting around 10%.

Then another 8% to 12% immediately go to the second page of the listings.

So if you are on the front page, you can deduct another 10%.

Right off the bat you are looking at around 20% of the results that do not click on the front page.

Out of the 80% left, if you are not in the top three positions, you are going to get roughly 3% - 5% of whatever the total monthly search numbers were.

Another thing to consider is the possibility of monthly or seasonal trends.

"Christmas Trees" get 99% of it's searches in December.

You can use Google Insights to give you an idea of the search trends for your keywords.
