Hello

I am trying to think of a niche, now I have heard that there are a couple to get into:
-health
-lifestyle
-money making
etc

Lets say for example I choose the niche of "Making money online through article writing"

I keep hearing that it is important to build a list by giving away an ebook or something else, okay fair enough...I can write an ebook telling people "5 ways to make money through article writing"

I have heard making a one page website is a good plan, with a squeeze page and a lil bit more....

So now I have all this awesome stuff, an autoresponder and a niche driven website set up...how do i actually get people onto my page and to sign up for the ebook? Do i just use Google or do i use other traffic generating means?

Let me know if my entire plan is flawed

You need to generate targetted traffic from article marketing, blogging, video marketing, forum marketing.

To market any website you need traffic. You can just use google and create some optimized webpages and a blog but this type of traffic can take time to generate.

If you can write, try writing articles and submitting to free directories, such as:

    ezinearticles .com

    contentdesk .com

    goarticles .com

    ideamarketers .com

    isnare .com

    articlealley .com

I recommend this to many people in your shoes, just because I believe in it so strongly.

There are two resources that have been instrumental in my progress as an Internet Marketer.

One, right here, the Warrior Forum. Keep reading. Keep asking questions. Keep taking action. Much of what you asked has been discussed in great detail in various threads.

Two, something called the Challenge. I would encourage you to check it out, and follow the training. It's free, and highly useful. Take what you learn, put it into action, and keep reading here in the WF for additional ideas and inspiration.

    Check it out... The Challenge

Let me make just a couple of other thoughts though...

Don't lose sight of the fact that there are hundreds (thousands even) of different niche ideas. Don't get stuck in the too obvious ones like health or marketing.

If you do decide to go that route (and even if you don't really) market research is the ESSENTIAL first step. It may sound complicated, but it's not and things like the Challenge can be greatly beneficial in understanding how this works.

There is an important sequence to things...traffic to your site being even more important than salespages, autoresponders, graphics, and anything else.

Anyway, just a few thoughts I had, and I hope something made sense.

    All the best,
    Derek

The first thing, you could do is to have a signature, on your warrior forum account. You can drive traffic to your squeeze page by writing articles, putting some vids on youtube. Write a press release, mentioning you are giving away free material.

There are, many ways to skin it, but traffic is key and there are tons of sources that, can bring targeted traffic.

Also, make sure to observe some other squeeze pages and try to emulate what... the successful marketers do on their squeeze pages.

Hey Daniel44, driving traffic to build a list is always the fun part ;-) Some ways:

ad swaps- gotta have a small list to do this though
bookmarking really great articles that you write
doc sharing- write up a great article
ezine articles- will get you traffic. Do a bunch at a time so that they all get approved at once. Will give you a bit of a surge.

    hope that helps

i think nowadays trying to target a niche is a long shot, you have to get down to the keywords level. Finding keywords that are not competitive or being bid high on and start there, not a general and ultra competitive niche such as health and making money. You will have a lot of competition with "making money through article writing"

You have lots and lots of resources to get into marketing your website first and then starting to build traffic. Once you setup those articles, use article directories to distribute them one article per site a day at a time. Then, do it similarly for press release sites with different angle of content and submit them to free ones which are highly determined by Google as well.

Next thing is to interact with the Web 2.0. Build yourself a profile on Twitter, FaceBook, mini blog sites, social bookmarking submissions, podcast and video submissions to different networks. For videos, you could use TubeMogul to upload, store and distribute them. For podcasts, have yourself a channel in iTunes. For social bookmarking, there's Ping.fm and Onlywire to do the job.

Also, spending bucks for Traffic Geyser could do this job so easy for you and you don't have to find for the websites to submit your content to.

First of all, these are not niches. These are major markets. You need to drill down much further.

    Hi Daniel,
For such a subject your plan is not flawed but rather has just begun.
If you really want to get involved in such a large "Major Market" as it has correctly been called, then you need to continue your plan just as if you would create a business and marketing plan for a brick and mortar business.

You will have to be extremely serious and focused and know what you are in for. In this case it could be years before you make a profit. BUT, when you do make it you should be well rewarded.

As many have said you may want to scale down a bit, especially if you are new and do not have a large cash backing. Drill down to the micro niches so you can concentrate on one thing at a time. If not I believe you will end up becoming overwhelmed and give up long before your dues are paid.

At the very least detail out a marketing plan. All the way down to daily activities if possible. This way you will have a direction to go as there are many, many side streets that you probably will get lost on.

The best of luck to you and listen to some of these Warriors that have lived the game and survived, such as Alexa.
