Becoming an Android in an Android World

I'm typing on my laptop which I'm sure will be running the Android OS later this year. It is sharing with my new Droid X phone which is playing music from Pandora, but there is a "Droid" message every time a new email comes. Shortly, I'll stream some video from the phone over to my TV, either directly from the phone, or grab something off a network drive somewhere in the house. I'll go to sleep with some motivational audio from the Droid X. Then tomorrow I will surely want to go to a park, so I will use google maps (through the Droid) to get me there. The Droid will let me know if anyone is trying to call or email me, and make sure I am aware of any traffic jams. For at least an hour, I'll completely disconnect and wander through the park and look at the redwoods and listen to the sound of birds, wind, and babbling brooks. Then I will return to my like as an Android.

I can sure relate. I've had an Android HTC Eris for almost a year and I can't wait to get my hands on an X. Eris is great, but that X is Awesome.

I've written entire ebooks on my droid. I wish it had an external keyboard available for purchase. Does the X?

      Hi Dvduval,

I'll completely disconnect and wander through the park and look at the redwoods and listen to the sound of birds, wind, and babbling brooks.
That's the only bit I can relate to.

      I'm old fashioned .

I like to ride my bicycle and take breaks in parks to read my Kindle. I would really enjoy an Android with an e-Ink screen. I have an iPod Touch, which is completely unreadable outdoors, and I doubt an iPad is better. I also don't like Apple because Steve Jobs is a control freak who refuses to use open standards.

Amazon seems a long way from transforming my Kindle into a general purpose computer.

Did you know the Barnes and Nobles Nook runs Android? It won't be long before people start hacking away at that.

Was able to do some work at the california dmv. I am b198 and we have 40 more numbers to go and that was with an appointment. There will then be another line for them to see my car. My droid provides a little solace and an outlet.
