Question for Amazon Experts

My question concerns the advantage/disadvantage to having an actual blog for your amazon affiliate marketing as opposed to having a static site.

If you are trying to market, say, coffee grinders, why isn't it better to have a static site that places your message in a secure platform rather than a blog that is going to change whenever a post is made?

I understand search engines get excited when they sense new content, but can't this be accomplished by creating new pages from time to time on a static site?

Anyway, inviting comments from the internet that you have to stay abreast of seems like a huge bother and distraction. But I've never done it...so maybe I'm picturing the whole thing all wrong.

Looking forward to all replies....

    Hi Catherine,

Having a static website insted of a blog is just perfect. Actually most of my amazon websites (that make money) are ststic and not blogs. But still a wordpres blog is popular here because it's easy to build. Not everyone knows how to build a webpage from scratch. On the other hand blogging requires simply logging in and posting the new article.

As far as distractions of comments at the bottom of posts is concerned you can "disallow" people from commenting. The idea of posting "new content" all the time because search engines will like it is true in niches where there is lots of competition and to get constant attention of the SE spiders.

The bottomline is your content should be easily accessible for humans as well as search engines (because humans will arrive on your website/blog through search engines most of the time). This can be achieved through a static website as well.

It's a myth that blog ranks better than static website. No SE spider cares wether your content is hosted on a blog or on a staic page. All it cares about is quality and relevancy of information on your page(s). That's why if you don't want to update your content very often then a static website is the perfect solution.

    Hope this helps.
