Is 40% Conversion Possible?...YES It Is

Today I sent an email to a small list and got 40% conversion.

Build a list and provide them value. Earn their trust, and then make them an
offer that's almost impossible to turn down.

Of the people on it who OPEN your email (no, not the whole list obviously)
you can get insane conversions by doing those 3 little things.

1. Provide Value
2. Earn Trust
3. Make Solid Offer

If this sounds too simple, maybe it's because you're overthinking things.

If you're walking through a mall and somebody walks up to you who is
standing in front of a restaurant and says, "Would you like to try our
chicken wings" and after taking a bite you're in food heaven, are you
NOT going to eat there at least ONCE.

It's not rocket science folks.

Give people great stuff for free, or for very cheap and then watch what
happens when you sell them something or greater value.

Scarcity Mindset = Failure
Abundance Mindset = Success

It's really that simple as long as you have something to sell after you've
given them the good stuff.

That's the tricky part and it's what people have to work on when putting
together their business model.

What can I give them?

What can I THEN sell them?

Figure that out and the rest comes down to generating enough traffic
to go through the process.

It works for me.

Naturally, YOUR mileage might vary...a lot.

Right on Steven, solid post as usual.

For those without a list, 40% is an extremely good conversion rate. It's a great point though; think of what you can give first and then worry about selling. Oh, and build a list if you don't have one :-p

It's great to throw around nice conversion ratios, but we need more info since 3,000 mails, 150 clicks and 60 sales is different than 175 mails, 8 clicks, 3 sales.

Most people who run to the boards bragging about conversions just got lucky with sales being bunched up rather than having them spread out. Then over time the ratios get worse, but they don't update the thread with that bad news.

Thanks Stephen for a reminder of this "Back to Basics" approach.

40% conversion is excellent, and I am sure you'll get more out of 'em.

Obviously where they came from is important too - if they are a customer list then they are proven payers. They are obviously not freebie seekers.

    I disagree.

    Nothing's possible.

P.S. recommend change "solid offer" to "irresistible offer"

P.P.S. Someone step on your toes? Seems confrontational.

I've gotten a 40% conversion rate (43% last week) - we didn't hit 2 of your three points though - just a solid offer - to the right market. Points one and two will come later on in our campaign, but it seems like just have the right offer can be enough...

My question is: how do you make a solid offer without providing value?

Ah yes...Steve Peters Benn hit the nail on the head too...implied in a "good" offer is relevancy.

I see this all the time that people build a list based on a certain targeted incentive - ex. a report about 10 Exercises to lose weight fast, and then blast their list with offers that don't match such as vitamins or hypnosis or something strange and wonder why their conversion is lower.

But if you continue to stay closely on target or further segment your list, you can indeed achieve very high conversions.
