So it's Sunday afternoon and the house is crazy...family everywhere, it's nice out ...the extended family ...all of the neighbor hood kids are coming in and going out (talk about traffic :confused .....it's nice.

I am just a regular guy who enjoys having a conversation.

As i was sitting here just looking at my children ..i had "one of those moments". Its is a fleeting moment and does not happen all that often.

But it is the moment when you suddenly realize that ...man, life has changed. You really begin to go back through your life and evaluate your actions...the actions that have molded your current environment.

....I'm sure that you know the moment.

I make no claims to wise. However, I have been molded through personal trial and errors ...as has everyone. The seasons of life pass by one after one leaving us experiences in which we become wiser and better equipped to handle the next.

The seasons of life move quickly although they can seem like an eternity at times. But we get better at handling situations, navigating the bad times better and are more discretionary with the successes.

What are some of the things that you have experienced...from a earning money perspective...in which you have become wiser about?

The one thing that I have learned (I had heard about)...being in some form of sales, directly or indirectly for a lot of years ...

"Don't count the money until it's in the bank"

It was one of those things that I just had to learn on my own through the years....before I full understood it. Depending on your stage of life, you may or may not have had more of these experiences.

So....what wisdom can you contribute when it comes to what you have learned over the years with respect to making money?

    Nice post.

I have lived by my motto "Do something each day to feed your empire, and one day your empire will feed you and yours."

After having been hospitalized several times when I couldn't work on my empire, the money still came in because my empire had grown to the point it was feeding me and my family until I was better and could return to work.

I hope this thread gets some people thinking...

Hi, great thread. I've decided to spend money to get money. So far seems to be going okay, money seems to arrive when I need it, and when I run into someone who needs money, I give back.

Yes IM Repoter, seems that good things are just flowing my way lately. So that's what all the guru's and people suggest when it comes to money -spend it, give it away...and know that it'll come back.

For many, it's become a cliche but the following has served me well:

"The Fortune Is In The Follow-up".

I've closed many deals simply because I bothered to follow up with the client when my competitors waited for the client to follow up with them.

A story I like to tell in my coaching sessions is about a time when I worked for a financial services company years ago. I signed a contract with a company that was in Tennessee and we were in Houston TX.

I knew that we had a major competitor right down the road from this company. When they signed with us instead of them, I asked why.

(We were more expensive than those guys, too.)

So when I asked why, she said:

    "Because you called me back".

They had contacted several different companies to help them through their cash crunch. Of all of them, I was the only broker that called her back.

Amazing in its simplicity and still true to this day.

The Fortune Is In The Followup.

      How true this is....

I have experienced the same exact thing. There have been may times in which I just did not want to bother with following up.

But it has proven time and time again the crucial element in sales, especially off line.
