Can I create pages for my own website using nothing but RSS feeds from other sites?
Will this be duplicate content?

You can do this but it won't do well in the search engines.
If you're looking to make money online ultimately you'll
need some fresh content. Or, you'll need re-used, or
re-hashed content for people to see and use, plus a ton
of traffic which you'll (probably) need to buy. So, you
can do it but the engines will largely ignore you.

p.s. Some folks will disagree and tell you that it's possible
to use RSS only to build a site and make money. That's
simply not my experience. Original content is king.

I actually built a news section to my site using only RSS feeds...the link is in my signature here. I had no idea that this would not help with SEO. Does anyone have any advice on how I could add fresh content or articles to this particular site?

Well, what if instead of just a rotating feed, you had the system create a node or page for each feed item. Then you can post comments and thoughts on some (most?) of them.

As I understand it, you really only need a portion of original content to "count"... maybe 35-50% (anyone?)

If you had each feed item as a node or page, and then go in and add your own comments to the item (and this could be done in a batch process - like 20 at a time), then you are creating content.

However, as for just letting it "automatically" create your site... its not likely. You would have to be publishing feeds that had not bee indexed... and once YOU got indexed, so would they.
