What advantage/disadv is there to using adobe acrobat pdf vs free ones like...

Not sure to buy adobe acrobat older version or newer version or just some thing like openoffice.org which is free guys for those whom are not aware of this tool openoffice it is microsoft compatible product to their word, excel, etcc check it out...;>)

Anyway...

I will be creating my ebooks with a pdf soon and need to know what are the pros and cons of going on the cheap like free vs paid with adobe acrobat latest version.

note: if i go with a older version of adobe acrobat any advantage at all vs free one with open office...

I do not wish to assume i understand anything on creating ebooks with pdfs and what I should be concerned with when I start selling ebooks.

    It depends on what you want to do in detail.

    For creating ebooks the thing to look out for is if the PDF software turns all hyperlinks from your source document into clickable hyperlinks inside the PDF.

    This is the area where many free tools, but also older Acrobat versions suck.

    Make sure to check for working links in
    • text
    • table of contents
    • header and footer

    Usually you would not need the expensive Acrobat to create a simple ebook. Just test the free or cheap tools if they maintain the hyperlinks.
