Trouble Using YouTube

Hello, I have a question that hopefully someone here can answer for me. I am in the process of uploading a video to YouTube that I just made for training. The video plays perfect as an MP4 file on my computer at 2:16 length, but when I upload it, its at 1:25 length and it seems that its lagging. Can you explain?

Here are some more detail on the video:

MPEG-4 Movie
11.1 MB
2:16 Duration

Thanks!

Did you try to scrap it and upload again?

If the timing is off, there may be something wrong with it.

Maybe there has been a problem uploading the file. Try to reupload it. If it doesn't work, try converting the file formats like .flv or .wmv before uploading it online. You can convert this using online converters like zamzar.com or download total video converter.

I am having a different download problem. I am using Camtasia, have used the setting recommended for YouTube and have 3 failed downloads. It says "Failed (unable to convert video file). When I click on that message is recommends settings (MPEG4, 640x480) which I use and still get the same message.

I thought this was supposed to be easy! Little kids are downloading to YouTube and I cannot get it done! Talk about newbie.

Youtube normally takes anything and does a good job of it. Make sure you wait for 30 or so minutes for the video to fully render within Youtube. Also, I am curious why you have an MP4 version as opposed to something else your screencast software outputs. If you are only using the video on Youtube, export it as something else such as avi, wmv, or .mov.

I would not use Camtasia's export to Youtube feature. You lose a lot of control. Its best to export the production to your folder using the "Custom Production Settings". Choose .avi, .mov, or wmv. Then upload to YT using their interface. YT then converts the video to F4V, so you should send files to YT that are better than that to start out. You should also (record and) export at 1280x720 to take advantage of YTs HD resolution just like this video I created:

Thanks for the helpful advice! The .avi file type worked like a charm, and I was able to go back to 1280x720, although YouTube recommended 640x480. I am disappointed in the YouTube upload feature in Camtasia. It left the video in the Camtasia format, which did not work. I am just using the trial version, and I am wondering if some functionality is disabled. I sure does not seem like a way to impress the trial user with these kind of headaches and time sucking trial and error.

Export as .avi and try uploading that. If not then convert to .flv and try uploading that. Sometimes you need to wait for a video to completely render otherwise the quality is junk. Yes, this means that you can still view the video after uploading even if it isn't done rendering.

some problems like this occur if the file is corrupted or when you are lagging badly.
