I'm trying to find out what is the function of site overlay in google analytics, trying to find the explanation in google, but can really get it, anyone can help? Thanks.

      thanks, got it, but my browser will show a gray area over my site after I click the site overlay in google analytics, is there a way to turn it off?

    Thanks for the reference to the Google Site Overlay post. I appreciate that and found a lot of people didn't realize how it actually worked (which is why I wrote the article in the first place.)

    I wanted to add to it that there are a few paid systems out there that help you actually track clicks on the page (rather than clicks per link as is the case with Google's Site Overlay.)

    One of them is CrazyEgg.

    That may be something you could consider.
