Is Technical background required to make money online

I am doing a study case where I argue that technical background is a nice-to-have, not a must-have to make money online and I really need some examples to strengthen my arguments. Could you give me your example or bio of any people you know? I will feature that person link and saying if it's a good example for me.

Absolutely not needed. I started with Notepad and HTML 4.0 by Elizabeth Castro.

I have no technical ability, I'm a veterinarian and a writer, and I can barely write a line of html. I still have to do a Google search when I have to create a hyperlink!

Yet I can create an attractive Wordpress blog, a great looking forum or an ebook and set up its payment processor and organise automatic download. I have and still do make money online, in spite of my lack of technical know-how. The information on how to do it is out there, and if you can follow directions, anything is possible.

I agree that a technical background is not required to make money online, but I am pretty tired of:
"If you can turn a computer...you can do this..."

I strongly believe you must have a certain skill set in order to maximize your chances for making money online.

Even if you outsource everything...how are you going to outsource something that you don't quite understand how it works? What are the deliverables going to look like?

Most of my frustrations (early-on) came with not being able to do certain things. I finally came to the realization that I did not need to understand exactly how to do them (although that ability can come in handy in a pinch) but I DID need to understand a little technical information about how things work so I know which questions to ask or which problems to solve.

Thanks! I just had some more strong arguments for my paper. But are there any famous examples about this? I will need some more specific case.

Technical background is a nice-to-have because it's an additional bonus skills or to your profile once you applied for an online marketing/freelancing. But of course, many information on how to do can be search by Mr. Google and all you have to do is just follow the instruction.

    How could this be?

With every super simple underground never before seen, automated push button money making system that exposes every glitch and loophole online so you can sit on the beach barefoot with your super happy family all wearing white tshirts and khakis while money pours in to your bank account, making money online is a breeze

Oh yeah, and best of all it only cost $97 when it is normally $997. but you should get it quick, because there is only 3 left...

Yeah, not needed at all. You will develop a technical COMPETENCY in your time trying to make money, but that's all you'll need. A lot of other great developers have created ways for you to make sites that convert rather easy..

Yes it is needed a little. You need to know how to run your hosting accounts, use FTP and make a DB. Everyone who says no you do not need to is being a little unclear, you COULD hire the jobs out to professionals, but then you are not learning the technical side. Some have said no its not needed all you need is a HTML book and notepad, well to me, thats starting with a technical knowledge because your learning. If you were thrown in one day to the IM world, you would be lost.

Even though you may not need technical skills, you still need some computer skills and typically that of an Excel user. You need to know your way around cut, copy, paste etc. Otherwise it will take you a long time to get the strikethrough on the $997 to get it to $97

LOL! I have no idea how to do a strikethrough, for sure.

I agree, you need to know your way around a computer.

Perhaps instead of technical skills as such, you need a certain mindset. I have friends with great knowledge and talent, and when I tell them they could write an ebook or create a website and share their knowledge and earn a bit of money from it, the responses are dreadful. "Oh, I'd be too scared to write a book", or "Oh, I couldn't do that, I'm not smart enough", etc etc.

Maybe it's not technical skills as such, but the determination to go out and learn what you need to do, and the belief that you are indeed capable of doing it. It's easier to learn technical skills than it is to adjust an attitude.

Nope, not at all. What you can't do, outsource. If you're strapped for cash, do what you can and hire a student to do the rest. I once had a website finished for me absoluetly free. The guy did a great job and only asked that I be used as a referal if I was fully satisfied...which I was!

Everyone on here saying "no not at all" is in my opinion being a little ignorant there is no way I could sit my grandma down with

photoshop and a wysiwyg (non html site creator) so it's even easier.

and say there you go grandma bang out a website but don't forget to use the ftp to upload it when you're done.

I'm going to say there is a learning curve maybe not a huge one but there is SOME technical skills needed.

I don't know, but some technical knowledge sure could help you save some money. There's many times I wish I knew more about creating and design my website to exactly my taste.

    Hi,

Nope. Absolutely NO NEED technical background. Me myself not educated in IT nor technical background in computer.

And when I started my Internet marketing i do not have a personal computer. For me, Internet marketing is a journey, we will get better everyday by day-to-day learning and practicing to what we've learned.

Planning, Focus, Determination and Persistence needed to success in Internet Marketing not technical background.

For me, it’s something nice-to-have and not actually a requirement. When you start blogging, you may need to learn some HTML skills but you'll be more comfortable in the long run since you’ll be familiar with these codes. Others can also be learned online so it will not really be a problem.
