Is it worth submitting to PR0 Directories?

I know it can't hurt your ranking but it certainly can't help either. Yet it's another backlink. What is everyone's opinion?

Kinda. I mean, diversity in backlinks is a good thing. Google might get suspicious if you'll have only high PR backlinks

I'll take this a little different direction.

Submitting to a diversity of different kinds of platforms is going to be more beneficial. If you are getting links from article directories, blogs, Web 2.0 sites, video directories, websites, social bookmarking, forums, Yahoo Answers.

Your articles can be repurposed for all of these types of sites. You can even use PLR and rewrite it for this purpose. (At least for most locations.)

Higher PR is always going to be better, even if it is only a PR1 site.

This is one place I love to use Market Samurai. The Promotion Module lets you hunt out Web 2.0 sites, blogs, and forums which have content with your keywords. It gives you information on the Page Rank and whether the links are No-Follow or not.

But saying this, If your competitors have 100 links from PR0 sites, and almost no links from higher PR sites, then having 120 links from PR0 article directories would be very beneficial. You need to attempt to evaluate your competitions backlinks and see what you are up against.

Well all the directories were PR0 at some time, so it doesn't hurt to submit it to them and hope that there PR increases over time.

That's a great point. Yes some directories do disappear within a year but others are there so a backlink wouldn't hurt at all.

Here's what I do, I submit to top directories manually and then use service like isnare to submit my articles to lots of directories.
