Membership Site - Platform Suggestions?

My martial arts instructor has over 45+ years in the industry and has black belts scattered across the country (with students of his in other countries as well). We're trying to be more productive and create new streams of income so I want to start a membership site.

That aside - I'm trying to figure out the best way to create the site itself. Are there recommended membership site platforms you use (ie. membership sites for WordPress, etc.)? I would LIKE to find a platform that feeds new info monthly/weekly based on where you are in your subscription so that new members don't have access to all of the old info - they just get it from beginning to end.

I'm looking for something relatively affordable and easy to use (as in, if there is a good guide I can set the site up myself without having to hire someone). Hope that's not asking for too much!

Suggestions? Thanks!

RAP with the wordpress membership addon would foot this bill quite nicely. It will allow you to show content based on membership level.

    Hi Deborah,

I always recommend memberwing that thing is awesome and they have a drip feed option now as well. I believe also wishlist member does the drip feed as well which is for wordpress

Wordpress is the platform you will want to go with it is very simple to set up and maintain.
    Cheers

The easiest way to do a drip feed is just thru an autoresponder. When they buy they are put on a members list that drip feeds the links to the content.

Emails can be forwarded, so that solution offers no way to protect or limit your content to members only. Try WordPress Membership Plugin - Membership Script For WordPress Blogs And Regular Web Sites

          Kevin,

It depends on how you define "stealing".

A system like DAP is definitely 1000 times more secure than sending out secret "un-guessable" links via an autoresponder.

Your content should like a walled garden, which is protected by a login/password at the least.

Can people pass on their login/password to their friends? Sure. But DAP will lock their account from further access, if it detects an account getting logins from more than, say "5" (or whatever you set as admin) IP addresses.

Can people download the content from your site after getting legit access to it, then re-upload to a torrent? Sure, they can.

Can people use Camtasia to make copies of your video, and then re-upload them elsewhere? Sure, they can.

Your content can never be 100% secure. Not even, say, if you used "true streaming" for videos.

Is anyone's house 100% secure from burglars? Of course not. But that doesn't mean we go out leaving our front doors, back doors and garage doors open. We still lock the doors, turn on the security alarm, turn on motion detectors, install security camera's.

Just make it hard for the "casual" abusers, that's all your goal should really be.

Don't worry about the 1% who will never pay you, steal your content, pass it on to others one way or the others, and so on.

Just focus on creating great value for the 99% of your paying members who pay you, support you, promote you, and keep coming back month after month.

          Cheers!

        Eric,

        Thanks for the plug.

Would like to recommend http://DigitalAccessPass.com (DAP) - which can drip-feed content, has built-in email autoresponders, broadcast system, affiliate module, etc.

        Disclaimer: I'm the founder/co-developer of DAP :-)

Any of the quality membership solutions offered by forum members here will do what you need quite nicely.

Login Frequency Marketing, Rapid Action Profits w/ membership addon, Simple Member pro, Easy Member Pro, Viral Membership System, etc. Any of these should be able to handle what you are wanting to do.

The decision on which system to use may come down to what options you might think you will need as your site grows. Whatever system you end up going with make sure it has the ability to grow with you and offer the additional functionality that you might need in the future, or at least be able to integrate with something that has the functions.
