The Domain Name Game - Getting Them Back!

Last night I went through all of the domains that I've
sold over the years - going back to around 1998 or
so.

I was shocked to see that over 90% of them are
all available again.

Including a few domains that I sold for $5,000.00.

Some of the names were still names that I thought
there was a market for, so I registered them again.
And of course, they are for sale... again.

It amazes me how many people spend $$ on domains,
then give up on their business, idea, etc. and let
the domain expire. Crazy.

I'd call this Extreme Domain Flipping because you
flip the domain for $$, grab it when it expires,
and flip it again for $$.

It's funny anytime I sell a domain name, I always add it to a notification service that lets me know when the domain has dropped, that way I can decide if it is worth picking up again.

You would be surprised how many drop after the 1 yr registration is up.

Yes this happened to me as well I sold a domain way back in 2004, I was searching for some domains to register and just put that domain name in whois info box and shocked to see it's available.

That domain is based on a great keyword of a searchable niche. In my opinion web world is changing so rapidly and the owners of these old domains might switched on some other areas or niches.

Well I also so much amazed to see this happing in domains.

I guess it's just like buying Internet
    Marketing courses: they're buying
    the dream.

It happened to me too. It's the same with websites, they buy the dream(as Tyrus said), the idea that the deal will get them a lot of money in the future but after the purchase they lose the interest and let them die.

This is one of the reasons the claim "all good domains are already taken" is a myth. I register domains every day for $9 that were previously purchased for thousands. There are approximately 80,000 domains that expire every day. Sometimes due to poor management, sometimes to lack of interest, sometimes due to death or gone out of business.
