If you have ever uploaded a new image into your Wordpress Blog in a page or a post and then discovered when you went to look at the page that the image had an ugly gray border around it, this short video will describe two methods to remove that border.

This video corrects the coding eror

Hope this helps.

In general as a default, wordpress should not add a border. Making this post a little useless unfortunately.

Hi Owen. While what you say may be true if you do a Google search for that topic you should find as I did recently that there are a number of questions about just that and many of the forums listing answers were not very helpful. I have also gotten that question a number of times. That is why I put the video together because I know that some folks have struggled with this problem even with the latest update of Wordpress.

So I hope it will be helpful to those folks.

Just put this at the end of you stylesheet (.css):
        Code:
        img, a img{border:none}
Both non-linked images (e.g. featured images) and linked images will be displayed without a border. You only have to do this once (as opposed to with each image in your method).

    1. I always thought the border was a theme-dependent thing... and you can have it or removed by your stylesheet.

    2. You are showing wrong in your second method: the /> must be left as it is, don't insert anything in between the slash and > - that is the closing tag for your image code.
(Learn more about XHTML why you need that!)

Thanks for posting the video! I always get rid of the borders when I am designing the theme itself saves having to do it once the theme is uploaded.

^^ that's the real solution... IF your theme is putting borders around the images. Out of the box is NOT WP putting the borders but your own theme.

Good point, althought I am sure it will help some who do not know how to edit a stylesheet.

In that case they can get a normal theme that doesn't add borders around the images :p

Ceterum censeo... the info given in the video shows wrong coding practices.

I am trying to encourage the OP to post again instead of putting him down

Thanks Owen I honestly appreciate your concern but I have been around long enough to realize that I can still make mistakes

What happened here is something that shows the power of the Warrior Forum. I started a thread and unfortunately did have and error in one of my fixes which by the way I am presently changing in the video. But because the thread was started other members were inclined to offer more opinions.

Istvan Horvath--was kind enough to point out an error I made in the position of the fix I put in the image link and also stressed that the problem is not with Wordpress but with the template.

Stefan Vee--Offered the proper technical cure. However some new folks may not be yet comfortable in poking around in the style sheet.

NikkiDelgado--reminded us that the designer should eliminate the problem during design.

It is possible that none of this would have occurred without the original thread. However I think we have all added to the knowledge base and will help a number of folks understand a little more about Wordpress.

So as they say in Tennessee, "I think all in all we done good".

So we should always try to be nice and keep our mouth shut when wrong info is being posted?

Stefan, read my first post, I was the first to correct the issue :s

              Moving on.

Thank you for the post as It has shown a light on a different way this problem can be solved.

              Best Regards

That's fine but I will always discourage anybody that gives away wrong information regarding WP... disguised as "help". Nothing personal.

EDIT. While I was posting this the OP replied above. I think we should move on
