Question about free membership site Conversion rates

Hi,
I am in the process of building a membership site and was wondering what kind of conversion rate I could expect. I appreciate that there is a very broad question, but is there an average if you llike, i.e every subscriber on your list generates $1 per month, is there a similar stat for conversion rates.Also looking for same kind of thing for squeeze page. I know it is all dependant on your copy, what your giving away and the type of traffic, but is there a average rule of thumb

    Try changing your thread title to
    Membership Site Conversion Rates ? or somthing.

    If you leave it at conversion rate, many people who have membership sites might just look and think:

    "oh no, not another conversion rate question"

    so try including membership site in your thread title.

    - you will find that the people who read it will be more targetted (as many people who have membership sites can read this thread and hopefully answer )
