Migrating from wordpress blog to a .com

Hi fellow Warriors.

I recently migrated my free wordpress blog to a top level domain. I did this using the old blog's export option and then importing the xlm file into the new domain, which also uses wordpress.

I noticed today my posts that have video and media streaming links are not displaying as they should. The link is still there in what looks to be html code, to the source... but the video or audio stream does not load?
Any idea why this might be happening, and, what I can do to fix it?

I am somewhat of a technical illiterate, and can't figure out what to look for and where.

Thanks
Regards
Ruben

And where do the links point to? To the old location? Or...?

When you did the export/import, did you say "YES" to the question whether to import all the attached files?

EDIT. And the right title for your post/thread should be:
migrating from wordpress.com to my own domain

I guess I could have worded my title better than I did. Thank you for pointing that out.

To answer your question, the links all still point to the right location, but they show up in the actual post as the "text" html embedded code, not a video you click to watch. I suspect it has to do with the embedding code options?

They were not hosted on the blog, if that was what you were trying to say, and mainly link to youtube videos.

Also, I did say "yes" when asked wether to import all the attached files.

I might just have to try that. Thanks

If I may, just ask a few more questions regarding this migration...

The wordpress.com blog did get a fair amount of traffic, and I am scared of loosing this. From what I gather, I will be ranking as a new site, and will have to be "re-ranked". I did have a few pg.1 search terms and was wondering if they will eventually reach that again?

Secondly, How do I shut down this blog and have the domain replace eveything I have so far? While I work out all these minor issues, I have duplicate content on the net and am somewhat worried that my ranking might drop or something even worse...

      Thanks
