Joomla RSS Feed Module Recommendation Request

Hi gang, no time no post...
got a Joomla question: as far as I know, in Joomla terminology what WP calls a Plugin/ Joomla calls a Module.

I have a client who insists on Joomla, they've got a blog in a directory (not the tld), there is no RSS feed set up for it, they're using a 3rd party RSS feed for the comments only (IntenseDebate)

Can someone recommend a Joomla Module to create an RSS feed so there is something to promote please?

thanks and Happy Holidays/ Merry Christmas to all of you

    David:

What WP calls "plug-in" Joomla calls "extension". Extension could be a "component", "module" or a "plug-in" (there are also "templates" and "languages" which are also considered extensions).

You don't always need a 3rd party extension to implement RSS feeds in Joomla. Joomla core has ability to generate RSS feeds for category or section views.

Not sure what you mean by "blog in a directory". Perhaps you can clarify?

thanks, I know now a bit more than I did about Joomla than I did before.

A fellow Warrior pm'd me explaining how to enable the RSS syndication without a module, extension or component

I suspect I was confusing what I'm accustomed to seeing as a "blog" via blogspot/ wordpress and Joomla.

      Here's my confusion:

If you add an RSS feed to a static website, you have to click on the "feed" button/ link and you get taken to a page offering you options for subscribing via RSS... I'm calling this "non standard" rss behavior

A "standard" rss feed behaves as if it is "broadcasting":

view a blog in Firefox and the evidence of the RSS feed "broadcasting" is from the orange icon seen in the browser url bar

view a static html page that's had an RSS feed embedded in the html code and the feed "sorta works", but there is no evidence of an RSS feed "broadcasting"

      ---
I've been defining a blog as a blog based on if there is an orange RSS button viewable within the browser url window

I've seen "blogs" that weren't really "blogs" because they don't broadcast as described above

Apparently Joomla IS a blog, but there is no orange button visible

I found the "subscribe" button on the site in question, once clicked all you get is the raw xml code, there is no "feedburner" like screen asking you to choose which RSS reader you would like to subscribe this feed to

        David,

Joomla is not a blog, it's a CMS. You can use it to build blogs (as well as non-blog Web sites). Whether a site has RSS feed or not doesn't determine whether it's a blog or not. Although pretty much all blogs out there have RSS feeds. WP originally started as a blogging platform and then evolved to a CMS, that's why there's normally nothing you need to do to have a RSS on the site. With Joomla it's a little different because its articles may or may not be blog posts. You will find a simple video tutorial on how to add RSS to Joomla here:

        https://interactiveonline.com/suppor.../55/Joomla-CMS

look for "How to create an RSS feed using your Joomla content".

        Good luck.

The component I use for creating RSS feeds for Joomla is Ninja RSS Syndicator

You select which sections/categories you want in each RSS feed and then you have to add the RSS link to your template.
