How do I ............

Hello, and Merry Christmas!

I purchased a WSO blog package which I love, it is beautiful beyond my wildest dreams
Now I have looked at it from every angle, I want to start to build a list from it. I have a great free product to offer when new members sign up, only problem is, I don't know what I need to use to collect memberships.
I have a couple of 'webs' sites, which it is really easy, almost paint-by-numbers method of creating a members area, but I don't know how to do it with WP
I admit I am a dummy, and would really appreciate some guidance.

thanks in advance
Angela

The first thing that you need is an autoresponder service. Most marketers swear by Aweber. That is what you should be using to create your opt-in list and deliver messages to your members.

So are you looking to build a list of Subscribers to your mailing list, Members usually suggests a membership site with recurring payments.

Assuming your just doing the mailing list thing, I understand you can get the html opt-in form code from Aweber and paste it into the wordpress text widget, which is installed into the side bar from the appearances menu.
There is also an official? Awebr plugin available.

If you are not dealing in one of the traditional high complaint marketing fields, like credit reports or work at home schemes, you might be able to use a free Mailchimp account, good for 1000 subscribers.

thanks, yes I probably mean subscribers, not members. No fees or anything, just trying to build a list
