Amazon sites can do great!

I have been kinda promoting Amazon products since February of 2010.

I started and then got sidetracked into other things like clickbank, making my own products, and ghostwriting.

But after reading a lot in this forum about Amazon affiliates, I put into action what I have learned.

The results are in.

I know that some of December is from Christmas.

But it is amazing what happens when you put your mind to something, don't get distracted, and actually work.

And it wasn't that much work. All those sells came from 3 websites. One that has been active since Dec 2009, one went active the end of October 2010, and the last one went active in the middle of November 2010.

• Product selection is important. All my products are at least $100.
• I wrote simple product reviews, but I did not copy Amazon info.
• Used Wordpress.
• Got backlinks - each site has in the thousands of backlinks although google has only found about 500 or so for each site so far.
• This is the key I have found. Pick the right keywords. I picked long tail keywords. Tried to pick ones that are buying keywords.

I also found ones with high searches and low competition. But not the way most people do it.

For example, the site that went live in October is in a competitive niche. If you search Google for the exact match of my main keyword, there are over 7,000,000 pages. I am currently in the number 3 spot for my keyword. I was on the first page in less than two weeks, and i have been climbing since then. And I haven't touched the site since the middle of November.

I am also on the first page for 5 other minor keywords I targeted in each review. And in the top two pages for about a dozen more keywords. And they keep climbing up each week.

The site I launched in November is a little more competitive. A Google search for the exact match returns around 20,000,000 pages. I am on page two for my main keyword, page one for some minor keywords, and steadily climbing.

I just wanted to write this so those of you who are getting started with amazon sites can have some hope. You can make money. Stick with it and don't bounce around to the next shiny thing. (I am really bad about this)

This is not even my main income stream. I can only imagine what someone could do with $200 for domain names and 8 or 9 hours a day to write reviews. Someone could make a killing.
