Excellent thread! Just when I needed it. I have someone who's squatting on MY domain and wants me to pay them some extortionate fee ($480) to release it. I need a lawyer!

Thanks George for your advice. Yeah these cases arise generally when someone takes your license and changes it, or adds to it as they please. That irks me the most because we have a lot of ethical people who are following the license and being hurt by these handful of people who often think they can get away with this stuff.

Thing is this lady who is violating our terms thinks she is right, which is unfortunate. We've contacted her, her web host, etc, and none have been helpful. Normally people comply quickly and are easy to deal with. I talked to a lawyer just to verify and he said she's definitely breaking that copyright and we can go ahead. Especially being that she is within the reach in the USA here.

What I plan to do is record and document everything we do that helps and perhaps even turn that into a video series to show the Internet business world who to go to, how to get help, etc, because I think this is a very big problem indeed that a lot of product owners are left in the dark with no idea to do anything.

As for now, we plan to take legal action once we get more information as to "how" to stop these guys who don't comply.

I guess I'm wondering if it's better if I hired someone geographically close to me, or get an Internet Lawyer as listed above?
