Just about to get started promoting Amazon products have the tools but is this the wrong move ?

I have heard mixed things about the amazon affiliate programme. I joined myself a few days ago and have launched a blog reviewing music CD's. I don't ever expect this will enable me to retire but I do intend to make pocket money from it.

If it works, I'll set up a few different sites, each earning pocket money, and totalling some form of income.

HI Thanks for the reply I will be making loads of mini Niche sites, I forgot to mention that I have a tool which will be posting my reviews on 500 high quality article sites as well.

good luck with that - most article directories are a flash in the pan! stick to the reliable, leading ones.

Hi these are very high quality article sites, so should be pretty good on getting my content out there.

There are several warriors making 10K plus per month on Amazon, so it's doable. The question you should ask yourself is, how comfortable are you that Amazon (or any other affiliate program that you're going to be spending your time, work and money promoting) will be around for the long term? The reason I mention this is that in the U.S., several states have gone after Amazon for sales tax, and Amazon responded by immediately cancelling the affiliate program in those states. Many people lost their entire income overnight and had to scramble to find some other way to make a living.

This can happen to any affiliate program and is the chief risk in becoming an affiliate for someone else. Now, life is risky, and although not likely it's possible that I could walk outside tomorrow morning and be flattened by a runaway bus! Diversify by exploring every way you could monetize your website(s) and choose at least two. That way if an affiliate program is closed you won't be completely without an income.

Long term, you should look at product creation. It gives you the most control.

Or, like me you might just be using this as a stepping stone to your true dream business. I don't intend to stay in the internet game forever as the conditions are constantly changing. I am building Amazon sites to finance my dream job of running a hunting and fishing charter service, with some real estate investing (God is not making any more land... so might as well get it now) thrown in for additional capital generation. Once these ventures become profitable for me, I'll be selling everything off at a premium, or giving them all to a close friend of mine. Not sure which just yet.

Lee789, you seem to have been coming here for advice, but are deflecting some of it. For example, I see it as a problem you're only investing $5 in keyword search at Fiverr, which to me is very dubious. I don't want to get in a debate about Fiverr, but the person you hired there is only getting $4 for their work, so what do you expect?

Also, you say your reviews are going to 500 high quality article sites, but as it has been pointed out, there are not that many. There are about a dozen or so high quality article sites. Also, you are seeking to "will earn me a living" and that's a little unrealistic for may reasons.

I don't want to put a damper on your dreams in any way. I say go for it, see what happens, and then work to improve results over time. Making money in this way with Amazon is a process, not an event.

Sorry I must of not mentioned that the Keyword research is being created by a very good HQ service from Warrior Forum, which is $9 the services from Fiverr is simply the review however I understand where you are coming from, but I can assure you the guy who is creating the review has got fantastic feedback.

Wow that is harsh for him I really feel for the guy but the UK is 5% which is more than US at 4% as far as I am aware anyway, for myself I am registered with both the UK and the US for Amazon, as I mentioned before the commission is not much to shout about thats why I created this thread really, based on focusing on other things as well as Amazon thanks for the share I feel for the guy who created all that content on his site. I will be creating many small Niche sites maybe I should only promote US.

The commission in the UK is supposed to start at 5% and rise to 6.50% depending upon how many sales you have but looking back at last month my percentages varied from the lowest at 3.50% and leaving out mp3 downloads the highest is 6.29%. The lowest is an electronic item sale which was capped at £7. The over 6% commissions are third party sales not Amazon.

However, I have found it much easier to earn money on Amazon than Clickbank or CJ so Amazon isn't a bad starting place. Whenever I set up a new Amazon site I look for other affiliate companies in that niche that pay more and add links to them too. I have only found one so far that can earn more than Amazon for me, but there is no harm in trying.

Your keyword research will make or break you so definitely don't skimp in that area. As long as you're outsourcer for the keyword research is reliable, you will do well overall with Amazon.

The trick is to scale up to really start seeing some $$$ so work on your plan to grow your base of sites.

I admire the extent you have taken for your preparation. You seem to be in the right direction but if there are any loose ends,i think you can tie them up as you go.
Although amazon may not pay high for commissions, you can scale up with higher priced products and higher volume sales.

Sounds like you've got a plan and that's the most important part.

Personally, I don't use Amazon plugins and I never will.

I link to Amazon from within my content. I don't use banners, widgets or any other form of display advertising and my sites still convert and more than 40%.

I think I pass this off well becuase in terms of SEO, I'm going for product names. When the visitor arrives at my site they get an overview of the product with review snippets from Amazon with a link 'Click Here to Read the Review in Full'.

That's it...nothing screaming BUY.

I'm just providing good value and offering them to read the the entire review/more views if they'd like.

I build each site based on a range of products and start off with 10 products for each site. I grow from there.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling.

Thanks you have it down very well indeed by the sounds of it nice one, I wont be spamming with the "Buy now" either just simply coming accross more of a review because it puts people of otherwise I have heard, I have also installed the SEO package to my Wordpress which seems pretty straight forward and I have been learning some very useful information/tricks today.

I hope to be making some money out of this, but more importantly the experience needed which I can use with other products/niches and projects this in itself is going to help me greatly I feel. I know that theoretically with Amazon based on the commision it is not everyones cup of tea however given the right system it should prove pretty well.

Hey Lee,

I found that focusing your attention on Amazon products is the best way to get started with making passive money online.

I've spent several months fiddling with adsense, clickbank, cj etc etc but could never really see myself earning a comfortable living from them.

I tried my hand on Amazon associates and haven't looked back yet. (not that i've been doing it for a long time) They are good because they are quite good to rank for, converts like no other, and you get paid for other stuff people buy on Amazon (which they always do). I have several sites earning hundreds per month from Amazon and in midst of building and ranking several more.

Of course, that's not the only place to be. Ultimately, we gotta diversity and have our product. But when? Maybe when i hit the lovely 10.

Good for you to have all the tools you need to start your marketing, but are your tools do have what it takes to success?

I really want you to consider Dan Brock, he's cheap and does excellent work.

His tutorial in PDF, video, audio format are accessable..i personally recommend you an experienced person that already did the job before you..

Amazon is certainly a goldmine, and will be ideal for starters to try and make their mark. various points to note though. Be aware of the path of how your reviews are going, don't make it sound like you are trying to sell the product to them because they are good. Just let them know you are doing a review that's all, and if the reviews enticed them enough they will buy from your link.

Keyword research is also very important for you to choose a profitable niche, and build your site around 5 - 10 products at least. Higher commission of course can be gotten if you are promoting a big ticket item. Just don't forget the fundamental niche research.

There are already many success stories of people making good money with Amazon, you can be the next too!

Thanks for the reply, you can make an income just give it a go and see what happens, thats what I am doing you never know you could hit the jackpot and earn a ton, then just simply repeat repeat etc...
