Doc to Pdf Conversion!?

I am writing a lead magnet/report with a full page background image and can not find a way to convert it to a pdf that keeps the background intact correctly.

What do you guys recommend for converting docs to pdfs?

I've already tried openoffice, and several online tools I found through google. I am using MS Office '03 so I do not have the MS converssion tool available either.

    Have you tried PDF995?

I use is at work and personally - never had any problems with it

Just Google PDF995 - should be first one in the search results

It's has a few ad screens when you use it but apart from that is fully functional

Well, it's our turn to "hmm..."

If none of the solutions listed above worked for you - you must be doing something wrong. Sorry.

Earlier I was using quite a number of different 'printers' to convert M$ doc files into PDF - and they all worked.

For quite a while I use only OpenOffice and it does everything I want. True: I do NOT write anything anymore in Word... I write and format my text in OO and then just click on Save as pdf and I have an ebook

So in word I have used Format->Background->Fill Effects to set the background to a image I created myself.

That is the only image that does not convert. Other images in the document do, just the background does not.

Interestingly, if I use print preview in word, it also shows it with no background....

There's a free website that can do it for you. No download required.

          Go to Doc2PDF.net.

Scroll all the way to the bottom.

          Upload your document.

          Convert.

Not sure what you're doing, but I've used open office for years and never once had an issue.

try finding a copy of acrobat pro... that's the best way to deal with pdfs... Otherwise I would try printing to pdf in something like word rather than save as.... I actually had this same problem a couple years ago and for some reason my graphics just weren't transferring correctly to those online conversion sites... anyway good luck!

Download and install PDFCreator - The free PDF Creator and Converter | pdfforge.org

    1. Open the document you wish to convert to a PDF.

    2. Click file then print.

    3. Choose PDF Creator as your printer.

    4. Type in the file name for the PDF.

    Viola!

I have never had problems with things like PDF995, but if you really can't get it, you can have someone on Fiverr do it for you (mandark: I will convert your file to a PDF for $5 at Fiverr.com or a similar gig)

Managed to get my hands on a copy of Acrobat 8 Professional and got it working.

Funny, even when I converted with Acrobat it didn't carry the background over, but I just re-inserted it with acrobat, so no big deal.

I use OpenOffice.org as my main office software suite. You have an option to convert files into .doc and .pdf, amongst other things.

Why not use Adobe Acrobat x. It is a bit spendy, but it is what all the clones try emulate. It should be able to do it. I got it because I thought it would be handy, but never use it.

I use this: PDF Creator -- deskPDF Standard

When the document is finished in Word. You click FILE > PRINT > select DeskPDF > OK > give the PDF a name > SAVE

The Word doc is then saved as a PDF.

    Job done.

Download Open Office and open your document in the Writer part of the suite. Then export to pdf. Easy to do and never had a problem with backgrounds or anything else.
