Trying to import database from one blog to another... help please!

I am trying to import a wp database from a blog on one domain to a blog on another domain but can't get it to work.

I have only tried using the cpanel import mysql database function. Is there something else I should be doing like using phpmyadmin or, it isn't possible?

    I have a "moving wordpress sites" video on my blog that may help. works for me every time.

    no opt in or anything else needed to get to it.

    I m sure you will need to edit the database file then as you are switching domains. Al the urls will be wrong other wise.

    If you were just moving the blog to a different server then just importing the database would do yes, but not on to a new domain.

    I think I have explained that right

        Let me know if you need any help -- I haven't looked at Trish's videos -- but I'm sure they are a great help -- but as steve m pointed out -- there are lots of places where the domain name is or might be used. (I just did a bunch of domain name replaces, in fact, on a blog moved with a popular cloning tool -- but it was primarily because of the premium theme and some of the plugins that were being used.

    in your wordpress dashboard on the left menu go to "tools" --> export --> save file. Then "tools" --> "import" those files to your new wordpress.

    I wasn't sure if you were asking for this. But posting it just in case it might help.
