  I've been using godaddy for years. Never had any problems.
  
  If you're in the process of purchasing or renewing domains, call their 800 number or service number. Everytime I've taken the time to do that I've gotten a significant discount, regardless or whether there is a coupon code available.

I only knew that the .info domain at godaddy is $0.99. I didn't know that there is a coupon to get a .com domain for just $0.99..

You don't host the domain you just change the name servers in your Godaddy control panel for that domain to point to any hosting you want to buy.

I'm assuming you will have to renew at the $10 price in a year if you still want the domain but at least you save a few bucks now.

Didn't work for me either ... I'm assuming that its a new customer thing or ... well ... maybe they don't like me. I have moved most if not all of my domains from Godaddy due to their "interesting situations" with customer services (like another colleague, I won't bore you).

As far as finding out if there are discounts for Godaddy etc. I just google things like "Godaddy coupon code" or "godaddy discount" and / or better yet,

I set up a Google Alert with these keywords and when a post or article mentions this and gets picked up by Google ... I get an instant email.

  When I went to Godaddy, they wouldn't let me use the coupon because it is reserved for new customers. I have 23 domains with them, so they refused me.
