apparently i'm not good enough to advertise with adwords!

extremely annoyed with Google at the moment. i took some advice from users on here and started a low-cost PPC adwords campaign, only my campaign keeps being "disapproved".

the reason? "visible URL(s)".

I did some fishing and all is correct - my visible URL is the same as the URL it points to and the only thing I can narrow it down to is my site is considered a "bridge page". which has annoyed me because, whilst my site does exist to drive affiliate sales to amazon, it's got some well-thought out and valuable content on it!

who are google to decide this? very annoyed about this. it's lucky i was only tentatively experimenting with adwords and have no intention of launching a campaign, else i'd be hitting the roof.

    I suggest you look into the area of content marketing which will helps you to cut down your cost. You have to understand the work PPC works. Try get some guided ebook to show you how or you can always try other free tools to market

    Yes, they do not like any thin sites at all. They do not want their users
    going to a straight squeeze page from adwords.

    There are too many stories about all this. You can find other good places
    to do ppc advertising.

      i had no idea they were so bitchy about it. my site is useful to it's intended audience - i know, because it's a subject i'm very passionate about.

      v frustrated that my content is apparently not good enough. i shouldn't take it personally, but i am doing. cheeky *******s.

        Well... google david d'angelo's/eben pagan's double your dating. Take a
        look at what he does with his site. You can do the same with less content
        than he has. Notice where he places his optin forms.

        They have banned people from adwords for things they did years before - sort
        of retroactively, after performing an account review. I know of one very well
        known businessman that happened to with his adwords acct.

        Don't take it personally, if possible.

        You can fix up your site so they'll approve it and use adwords. Up to you.

    Your "visible URL(s)" is probably a reference to what Google calls the Display URL, which has to match the page users end up at. As warriortx was eluding to: the common trick of sending people to the display url , then immediately forward them to a sales page would get the Google warning you described.
    Usually if they didn't like the makeup of your page they would give low quality score, forcing you to pay $5+ for a 50 cent word.

      Thanks for explaining. I wasn't sure, and you're right about the low QS for
      thin sites.

      It's been a while. I haven't done any adwords for a few years.

    If adword is not working for you then try msn adcenter. They have combined traffic from bing and yahoo search. They also don't consider landing page quality much and you can get lot of targeted traffic from them cheaper than adwords.

    do you have a url to the site you were promoting please i will have a look and see if i can spot the problem,

    if they say its the disapproved, then its the ad or the url so please post or pm me the the ad the destination and display urls ( pm this please )

        What does the rest of your webpage look like? Is it just the single page? Perhaps you don't have an "about" and "terms and conditions" and "privacy policy"

        If you already do, ignore that little hurrr durrrrr piece of advice.

          it does have an about page and 2 categories. there is no privacy or terms though...

        No problems Matt, the offer is open at any time and yes it can be and is frustrating some times, but i find that with anything i do for the first time out on anything new, always learning curves.

    Try putting the terms and privacy page. It may or may not help to get your ads approved. But in my experience, those pages would certainly help your QS.

    But why bother jumping hoops for google? go with msn and yahoo first. You can get cpc 1/3 less than google!

    just for those that might be trying the same thing - i have just attempted to use Bing Adcenter.

    i searched for a voucher for this, and there is one (an official Microsoft one - search it). trouble is once you go through the process and get the voucher in an email, then try to use it only to discover it has expired! well done microsoft.

    today is not my day with tech giants.

    Don’t spend your money with ads that you have to keep paying. Spend your money buying excellent articles from ghostwriters. Articles attract visitors much easier than ads, and if they are well written they keep sending traffic to your websites for years, without further expenses. You pay only once for each article. You should hire a quality ghostwriter though, one who knows how to write short and convincing articles with the right keywords, etc. Don’t think that anyone can write excellent articles that will be displayed in the first pages of the search engines for years. Look for the best authors, so that you may have the best results.

    Stay away from Adwords, and all paid ads. Use powerful articles and also videos to attract visitors to your website. This is another excellent solution. Do both if you can, beginning with article writing, which is more important because it usually attracts more traffic.

    You are also going to transform your articles into newsletters, and when you’ll have many good articles, you’ll transform them into ebooks. This is a good investment.
