Made my first non-Fiverr sale!!

INTERNET MARKETING

As silly as it feels to be this excited about a single sale, I am. I have made sales through Fiverr and similar sites, but this is the first one I have made through my own website. Huzzah!

The way I found my client was a little abnormal, from what I've seen on WarriorForum.. I have a website proofreading service, and whenever I come across a website with grammatical errors, I send a personalized email to the site owner pointing out the errors I found and offering my services for the rest of the site. I must have sent at least 30 of such emails (to 30 different websites, of course) before getting a reply, but seeing that $30.56 in my PayPal account sure makes it seem worth it!

I suppose the gist of this post consists of two things:
1. Yay!
2. To remind other new IMers to stick with it, and use whatever advertising methods make sense for your specific site, even if they seem tedious.

Congratulations on being persistent and your first sale.

Have you thought about offering proofreadng and site content
optimization services at places like Odesk and others?

Wouldn't hurt to try.

Odesk is one I have yet to try.. thanks for the tip! I have tried elance, but have had more success on Fiverr and similar sites.

And I do article marketing - for myself a bit (I've done 3-4 articles for myself), but mostly for others (who pay me to do so, of course

What did you sell at fiverr? Have you tried GigBucks.com? You'll make more money per job there and I think they keep a lower % of the fee.

What did you sell at fiverr? Have you tried GigBucks.com? You'll make more money per job there and I think they keep a lower % of the fee.

Thanks - I have looked at GigBucks, etc. On Fiverr I sell all sorts of things, ranging from article writing to data entry to proofreading services to graphics editing.. the list goes on Basically everything I could think of that I can do in less than half an hour. I have made a couple hundred dollars through Fiverr actually.

You can also search Google for blogs who solicit guest bloggers. You'll
find a lot of high PR blogs that perhaps are looking for more well-known
writers - I don't know. But it's worth checking out, as always.

  I wish you the best. It is always exciting to get that first sale adrenalin rush....once it wears off, you are ready to duplicate it!
  
  I just recently completely my first couple of Fiverr sales for doing SQL Server work. Wasn't really in it for $5 sales, but rather doing jobs for clients to gain some traction for larger projects. I did manage to pick up a $200 database gig after completing one of them.
  
  Keep up the hard work and it will pay off. Before you know it, you'll be bringing in a pile of $30 sales.

  What a great idea for a business and what a great way to promote yourself! That just goes to show (me) that some of the marketing techniques we learn that are so needlessly complicated don't trump normal, common sense approaches to potential customers.

Congratulations on your first sale outside of Fiverr! It takes persistence and consistency to see results, and you have certainly demonstrated both traits in your quest to pick up that first sale.

What you're doing is really a numbers game, so I'd recommend sticking to a consistent schedule of sending out X number of emails each day, come rain or shine. If you keep doing this, you'll see the sales accumulate over time as surely as the sun rises each day!
