Just listened to webinar telling me not to affiliate market..

Hi,

I just left a webinar telling me not to affiliate market, and instead to make a million with ecommerce dropshipping.

Maybe, some people would agree with the idea that it's easier to make money with a physical product etc

However, what suprised me was that the webinar was run by Mark Ling, who's site and business is about affiliate marketing!

So is he saying it doesn't work?

Whats everybodies feeling on this and can you make money with affiliate marketing?

    I learned a long time ago to watch what people actually do, not what they say. If someone is making their living with affiliate marketing, and all of the sudden tells you it's not viable, why in the world would you trust them?

    If drop shipping is superior, why isn't that person in that business? Maybe there was context around the discussion you didn't share, but if not, I'd probably just move on.

    There are different business models out there.. of course you can make money with affiliate marketing.. I'm doing it and so are many others out there and you can also make money with other business models, but it takes proper planning, focus & action.

    Affiliate marketing works.


    Isn't drop shipping basically the same as affiliate marketing?


    Customer pays you for a product – you pass the order to product holder – product holder sends product to customer – you get commission

    My first thought is what product was he trying to sell to you after the webinar....was it drop ship related?

    Money can be made with both methods online and it is really up to you and what kind of time you are willing to put in.

      Yes I suppose dropshipping could be seen as a form of affiliate marketing.

      I assume the product being sold was a "how I made a milion..." about promoting a physical product. But to be honest I got bored before the end because of the amount of time "our" software was mentioned. It began to feel like a long sales pitch.

    I'll bet he'll be talking about an entirely different hot new thing 6 months from now.

    After the professional gurus have exhausted their own specialty, they have to start branching out in their training, Rynn Diess who has also diversified, going from a PPC specialist to an SEO expert overnight (not the only one, thanks to Google).

    Here is my cynical opinion,

    He has probably milked the affiliate model dry and needs something new.

    After a market becomes saturated with the same ideas and it becomes difficult to spin and release the same information, so what do you do? You find a new angle, a new pitch... a new product to sell your devoted followers.

    My guess, the guy probably isn't making as much from affiliate or dropshipping as he is selling How To Make Money products.

    Just my cynical opinion.

      Actually, the marketer you speak of (not Mark, but the product creator) had supposedly RETIRED from the IM arena and was focusing on another area.

      He was a MASTER affiliate marketer for years, and very well known.

      Funny thing is I am still on his list - (not speaking of Mark as this is actually an affiliate promotion for the other marketer) - and I still get promotions regularly from him for others products.

      Thats just the guru's game. It's sort of a "flavor of the day".
      Today it works, tomorrow it's dead - just depending on what you are promoting "tomorrow"!
      His circle is well known for changing their mind in mid stream.

      Yet, I still learn a lot from him. So, I guess I'll still watch silently and learn from his techniques and not his recommendations.
      One of those "do as he does, and not as he says" I guess! :rolleyes:

    The truth is that pretty much every business model you hear about frequently, whether it's affiliate marketing, dropshipping or even network marketing, does work.

    The question you need to ask yourself is what are your skills and aptitudes, and which of these approaches are you best suited to?

    An approach that does work, may not work for you if it's not the right fit.

    But then an approach most people struggle with can be something you kick butt at if it happens to take best advantage of what you're good at.

    Look at all these business models as being like job advertisements. Pick the one you're best qualified for then apply yourself to that.
