A problem that newbies face.

Hey Gang,
I've been reading here for a while now, and also been on ewealth for a while. Several years ago I did make $50 bucks in 2 days (while spending about 20 on adwords advertising) It was fairly simple, but since other things have taken me away from online advertising.

As I come back with a more mature mindset, I have been facing a challenge. Before I go into that, let me give some background information. I'm a 26 years old, educated and over the past several years have been pretty successfull on ebay, I also own a real estate franschise (part owner).. I'm doin well financially for myself. However, I love the idea of multiple streams of income, and you guys seem to have mastered that within the IM niche.

This is my problem. I come here truly trying to learn and find someting to "latch onto" but I'm finding it increasingly impossible.

There is SOO much, so many different ways to generate income, when you do research on strategy, you find yourself looking at another strategy.. and it becomes impossible to have "tunnel vision." I concidered coaching by one of the finest, but right now timing just is not right to dedicate to fulltime coaching.

I don't mind blogging, I have a personal blog that is like a journal for me, it's private I call it a "virtual accountability partner" but it's fairly basic on blogger.com , I don't know how to use wordpress and allthat (although i'm sure I could learn)

My quest, is to find someone, just one person (out of the many that will ignore my newbie post) who can give me SOMETHING to latch onto without having to sign up for their free new letter, I need some sort of track to follow.

I think that's the problem most newbies face, we're not lazy! Just info overload!!

Someone, anyone?!

Thanks for reading.

    Dennis,

I'm still very much a newbie but I've had some success in the past year. Here's my 2 cents:

Find one strategy and work it through all the way to the end. Don't do anything else at that moment - total tunnel vision. Only do/research what's necessary to move forward in your project.

When you're done access your progess. If things are going well, keep doing more of it. Test and experiment and try to squeeze more profit. If things aren't going well, find another method and stick to that all the way through. Then access, rinse, repeat.

Dennis, it sounds to me that you just want someone to unconditionally hold your hands and show you exactly what to do, yet you don't want to spend any money and furthermore you don't even want to sign up to people's lists to get FREE information?!

    Am I missing something here?

Dennis, my sister has recently been out of work because of an injury and even though she has been in marketing from her last job, she is a newbie when it comes to internet marketing. I have been helping her with some things she can do to make some money online. In doing so, I started to realize just how many ways there are to make money online. Each way has its own skill level that takes a little while to master.

I have recently started making some videos for her to help her with building sites using Wordpress and building some stores that promote ebay products along with adsense income. PM me if you want me if you are thinking along those lines and you are interested in learning more. I don't have any products to sell, just helpful videos.

Actually, Li, you're way off base, and I'm sorry if my post came across that way. Yes, I've done my fair share of buying ebooks courses there and signing up for free information. My inbox will prove that. I don't believe that quality education is free, nor do I expect to get into a business and not pay to play.

You don't get into real estate, with no money.. period, I don't care what late night TV says.

The problem for me is, I tend to research things to death, which is a good thing, and a bad at times. And I've found that it's hard for me to focus on one thing, when I do find a strategy I think I partially understand I get side tracted as there are a TON of different strategies in the internet marketing industry. Just someone to maybe give me a "game plan" that I can simply follow, one that I'm sure some of you experienced guys can whip up in all of two minutes.. I know, because I do the same for newbie guys to the real estate forums. I'm not looking for, nor expecting someone to just take me under their wing while they have nothing to benefit from.

I searched long and hard, and a lot of my inquiries either led to someone free ebook, or led to someone saying "There is so many ways to make money online, just find what you like to do and stick to it." - that is helpful, but catastrophic..to me.

        To Xlfutur1,
I will send you a PM shortly, thanks for sharing.

Ok I must apologise if I jumped to the conclusion too quickly, but I have to disagree with your statement "quality education isn't free".

From this forum, I have learned so many free tricks that improved my SEO and traffic just from some of the public posts alone, not to mention the sheer gold that many other members are freely sharing if you only sign up to their lists. I'm a online marketer myself, and i'm on at least 20 different mailing lists. You never know what one piece of seemingly insignificant info can do for your business, not to mention that there's obviously good value in a lot of the optin freebies offered.

This is not real estate. It's a different ball game. The idea of marketing is to deliver value so you get value back. I don't see why any serious marketer would under deliver to their list, since that's where the big money is made, and you do need to build a level of trust in the relationship. If you start off by giving them something crap, that's not going to do you any good in the long-run is it?

As you have already said that you are successful on ebay, why don't you try expanding your market there?

As you know your realstate stuff, develop a comminity/forums locally with a paid membership to teach whatever you know about realeastate or ebay etc.?

    Hello Li,
In my industry, most of the people who have the mailing lists are Guru's, and they barage you with basic, useless (typically) information with one goal and that's to sell you their next course, and most of the gurus aren't even out in the real world doing deals.. So please, excuse my ~negative~ stance, I will work on that and be more open minded.

DSM, thank you for your input, I downloaded wordpress a day or so ago thinking it was a program, and I quickly found out it's source code??, AHH! , I have PM'd you.

    Radhika,
You are absolutly right, I have thought about doing that. But in the same token, I never wanted to become a "guru." I don't mind teaching, I'm just unsure of the negative stigma real estate gurus get.

Ultimately, it seems that my mentality needs to change, I need to work on being so open minded.

Thanks for everyone's input, and for those people who have PM'd me. I really appreciate it.

I've found that beginners stay there because they get confused
by the barage of B.S. offers and dance around the fringes
doning a lot of "something for nothing" deals, opportunities,
      and so on.

You have to do it like a business and most businesses are difficult
to get going without putting money and a lot of time in. It
can be done but you have to be super-commited to make good
on the cheap. It's much simpler, if you can raise capital, to
use money to start your business right.

On the internet though - well you get a free website and you
think "I'm in business" but the commitment isn't there and it's
actually hard, psychologically, to spend money promoting a
      website you got for free.

You have to commit to it and start to create, advertise, and
talk to prospects and get to know what people are willing to
pay you for.... and if you are promoting stuff that attracts
the "something for nothing" crowd, move on.

Well, it's a jungle out here- NOT newbie "Daycare".

Sorry if I may offend, but the truth is...

It's just business, like any business.

Take some initiative and personal responsibility for your own success.

I've been around this forum since '05, and just started to contribute this year.

The reason being, to take some time to learn and grow in this business.

It does seem like you want to be spoon fed information that is freely available thru the search function...

Just use it- then ACT on it.

      That's it.

While its best to have money when you want to OWN a piece of property, you do not need money to get into the game. Harder? Yes.. When you have no money, people come up with creative solutions. Like connecting JV's and getting commissions, doing deals and reaping the benefits of using networking...

          Now, onto you're problem...

It seems like you have information overload (might want to check out self development), so let me simply it for you.

Website + Traffic + Conversion Rate= Money in your pocket.

( i know there are little details that you need, but whats the issue?)

          Where are you going wrong?

Are you looking to sell a product/service/ collect leads?

what are you looking to do?

Okay, so tell me if this is the right track.

    1) Create Domain / Host that is ketword based from my niche.
    2) Use wordpress to create a blog for the niche.
    3) Write quality keyword specific articles, post to blogs.
    4) Submit the articles to ezinearticles and other submission sites.
    5) On the blog, capture visitors info so I can send them free reports that offer secrets I don't list in the blog.
    6) Offer affiliate links on the blog and google adsense (??)
    7) Email the list, and every couple of days include an affiliate link.

    8) Find new niche, repeat the process.

Is this ..basically.. what needs to be done?

The very best thing a newbie could do is do something... dive into the trenches and while you're there you're going to learn heaps about IM.

Here's what I would suggest a newbie do if they want a real business online.

    1. Stay away from the "make money" market
    2. Setup a blog about something you have knowledge in
    3. Create quality posts using good quality keywords
    4. Create good quality articles different from your blog post but are keyword targeted.
    5. Keep writing
    6. Build a list

You are establishing your foundation and from here you can plug-in any number of different strategies. The important thing is you are delivering quality content to your market.

      Hi Mike,
I have decent expirience with ebay and this was one thing I was going to start a blog about. I know "Make money" is broad as there are hundreds of ways to make money, would make money within the ebay nice still be hard for a newbie?

      Thanks!

First of all, it is great you have asked a question. It is a great start!

    But I'm confused.

You want someone to help you "without having to sign up for their free newsletter." May I ask why? It seems to me that a free newsletter might be a good start. Just wondering.

Read this forum for a while, and I am sure you will find plenty of ideas - with no obligation.
