How many of these thread topics have you seen today, yesterday, last week, the week before, and the week before that? Maybe even last month, last year, etc.....

I always wonder 3 things when I see these topics.

#1 - Is search really broke?

#2 - Is the search function hidden?

#3 - Should I be creating an Ebook?

oh...well...those topics are either a look in the rear view mirror, or a vision into the future. They will be back again tomorrow, next week, and next year.

Yes, the search is broken and Google went out of business. If you weren't too busy making these rants, then you'd know these things.

Thank goodness Google went out of business. The fear, gnashing of teeth, and screaming about their "Content Farm" announcement was getting so loud it was keeping me awake.

If that really happened, there would be 1000 warrior threads every hour,

"My Google rankings have gone, what should i do"
      "whats happened to google"
      "Google searches not working"

They would be just some the threads would be created on this forum.

Once I went to the trouble to explain in a post how to use the search function (advanced) to find the info you need - and the person I responded to said "why couldn't you just tell me"....

Same old questions - but new people. Same problems - but new people. What's old is new again and again and again - it's the nature of the IM beast.

Sorry, not "beast"....it's the "journey/dream/lifestyle". Oops.

        • Barry, I know how you feel. These posts are really getting on my nerves and make me visit warriorforum less and less. As if it was becoming a certain place that starts with D and has the word "point" in it

          Hi Kay,

It's hilarious and sad, at the same time. While he gave you that answer, that time would be enough to perform that search. Many people expect us to work instead of them.

Will change the world in this respect at some point? I'm not sure...

Concerning to deja vu: 'For a newborn all the old joke is new!'

          Cheers,

    This gives me an idea:

I will create an ebook titled "how to use the Warrior search function", and then put up a Banner ad to this ebook, at the top of this forum.

Alternative title to the ebook: "The Idiot Proof method to using the search function",
    Broken up into chapters,

    With a Special Newbie chapter.

I don't know, there is a kind of calming familiarity to knowing that a bunch of those questions are going to be on the WF for most days. I kind of look at them like just being an integral part of the forum.

Part of the issue with not knowing sometimes (and I mean someitmes not all the time) is that people really do not know aht they don't know and do not know how to ask questions.

They don't even know what they want to ask questions about. If you do have a bit of knolwedge about what it is you want to know more about, using the search function works pretty well.

If you don't know what you want to do, it is a lot harder to ask questions. Sometimes, even when you use the search function you find keyword targeted posts and threads, which deliver little value in the way of helping someone understand anything and are more designed to get the thread kicked back up to the top of the heap.

I know a bit about a lot of things, (sometimes just enough to get me in trouble) and there are some days when I am using the search function, that I just quit because there are so many posts tagged onto a thread that are simply designed to up the posters post count.

Many of the questions posed could be answered in a sentence or even a word. Question: Is article marketing dead? Answer: No. End of story.
Question: What is the best autoresponder? Answer: It depends on what you want, just pick one. End of story.

And sometimes, question askers and answerers just want to be part of the group. It is a way of self selecting and they just want to belong. Not a lot of harm in that, that I can see.
