How Effective is a Press Release

I've heard many people say that they have just surged their traffic by submitting a press release.

I wanted to ask you guys how effective press release submissions have been to you.

About how many sites do you submit to?

Are they free or paid or both?

Does it give good ROI?

About how much traffic do you see per press release?

Thanks in Advance.

Hey IMReview....yes, press releases can be pretty effective in getting traffic to your site. The key, obviously, is to write the press release in the "correct" format and fashion. I do use press realeases on semi-regular basis for some offline work that I do and have had some pretty good success. There are some people in the warriors for hire section that will write pretty good PR's and also submit them for you. I usually send them out to at least 25 different directories. but sending out to 50 seems to make a difference. Just do a simple google search for "top free press release sites" and "top paid press release sites" or use directory instead of sites and that should give you a good start. Depending on what keywords, etc you are targeting, you can get on googles first page rather quickly. Competition is also a factor.

Regarding ROI, believe it or not, outsourcing this method is pretty cost effective. For less than $20 you can get a well written PR and submission service..seach the warrior's for hire section!

Let me know if you need anything else

There are 2 types of people in this world....those who get it and those who don't. The ones that get it know exactly what we are talking about. The ones who don't are left scratching their heads.

Press releases can bring you some major benefits IF you have something newsworthy to announce. There are alot of people who think that they can scrape a press release together on any 'ol subject and wait for reporters to come out of the woodwork. When you're thinking about press releases, the key is to think about how your subject impacts people. Why will they care?

Once you get past that, there are some good free sites that you can submit them to. Personally, I've had success with PRLog.

Does anyone have experience writing press releases for product review sites? Is it worthwhile for this kind of site?
