What's the best program to start?...

Hi everyone. I really appreciate having a voice in the forum as a 'Newbie' to IM. Would love to hear back from anyone as to what a good program is to enter IM as an Affiliate Marketer. I have a very limited budget and I find myself getting offers from all over the net to start up. Then when I do take up an offer I get bombarded with 'upsell' strategies, monologues and prepared sales scripts which really smack of sales methods designed to reel a prospect in even further before you can even get a chance to try the basic program. I guess that method must work because it seems that they all do it. But, hey...don't you feel or rather think that this kind of sales tactic is a bit demeaning? I mean, after setting the hook, the author of the program wants your undivided attention for minutes on end... some will not allow you to skip the additional offers.

So, having said all of that I am resigned at this point to seeing this happen regularly upon accepting any program out there for IM opportunities. But would you give me any ideas as to what program or programs are great for starters?

Thx,
-dpilgrim

Here are some niches that are great to start with:

    1. Weight Loss
    2. Fitness
    3. Health & Beauty
    4. Green Energy
    5. DIY Green Energy
    6. Electronics (iPad, iPhone, iPod, Xbox, Video Games, HDTV, Etc.)

Don't try to teach others how to make money online... That's a BIG MISTAKE that many newbies make.

There are MANY programs to start with... You can sign up as an affiliate of Clickbank, CJ.com, eBay, Amazon, Etc. for FREE and start promoting products in one of the niches above right away!

    You can drive traffic via:

    1. Article Marketing
    2. SEO
    3. PPC
    4. Forum Marketing
    5. JV's, Solo Ads
    6. Press Releases
    7. Ad Swaps

No need to reinvent the wheel! Do what you know works and TAKE ACTION. Nothing will happen until you take action.

    Best,
    Shane

      Good tips!

My concerns with entering into well-saturated niches is the competition. Micro-niches within the above niches work best, in my experience.

I definitely agree with that! However, it's hard to find a niche (that's worth promoting) that isn't saturated to some extent. Think about how many car dealerships you see in a row sometimes, or restaurants all right next to each other... They are usually all making money!

Don't let the competition scare you away before you even start!

Once you start making hundreds of thousands of dollars or millions of dollars... Then you'll worry about the competition... But to make a good living, you don't need to worry about it. Even $10,000/month is just barely scratching the surface of what some people are doing online!

You must find your niche and let people know what makes your business stand out above the rest and make your mark. The cream always rises to the top!

        Best,
        Shane

Shane, thank you for the great advice. Judging from your answer you look to be well established and profitable in the industry. I will be there too soon! God bless you for taking the time.

I would suggest HubPages first and foremost. Then venture over to Squidoo to test out different affiliates (by using Squidoo's built-in affiliates).

You can learn, research, and test all the major affiliates, SEO techniques, and niches without spending a dime.

One thing to keep in mind is that IM and AM are two different things. Or, maybe Affiliate Marketing is a subset of Internet Marketing.

When doing Affiliate Marketing you don't need to do much up-selling. Simple product reviews work great.

tritrain, I appreciate your response. There are no shortcuts to anything worthwhile. Tell though, is the income created, is it ongoing after the hard work put into it? In other words, do you need to keep priming the pump?
