Is There A Formula For Success?

There are over 280,000 members here at the Warrior Forum, all of whom have businesses experiencing varying degrees of success. Some have businesses producing multi-million dollar a year profits while others are still trying to earn their first dollar.

That being said, it would be helpful to know the reasons for such a large disparity between the two extremes.

Are there certain things that can be done to practically guarantee long-term success or is it primarily luck and timing that play the biggest roles in determing the outcome?

In other words, is there a formula for creating and operating a successful business online?

The secret formula is: You Learn. Apply. Rinse and Repeat.

Work you butt off on whatever technique made you your first sale. That's pretty much it.

From you site that is mentioned above:

"Millionaire Society was built to show anyone how to make $1,000 to $100,000+ per month on the internet"

"Mass Money Makers comes with very good customer support and could make you $1,000+ per week once you put everything into place."

"Auto Coupon Cash is mainly for people who want to earn an extra $300 to $1500 per day working from home."

These are the types of programs that raise a red flag to me. Personally, I don't think it's very smart to throw your hard earned cash in any of them. Especially the ones that "are designed by gurus to help you make gazillion of dollars."

An eloquent summary. This is the way it works. people fail when they rush from one new idea to another or follow the latest Guru. The reality--find a niche you enjoy, then do what Dash says. Get a little success, then capitalize on it.

Perhaps the difference between success and failure is consistent action - after all, all the new fangled programs in the world won't earn you and ounce of money unless you take ACTION.

So I would say the formula for success is...

        1. Take action
        2. Repeat step 1 until desired result is achieved

Yes you got it hit it on the head.

Funny thing is though, 99% of all marketers will not get past step 1, TAKE ACTION!

That is why so many people give up before they even try.

    Dash is right.

None of the folks making big money are following a step by step system that's a exact copy of another's plan.

They created their own system through trial and error.

It's a conglomeration of different ideas combined with their particular abilities.

There is no one size fits all.

In fact, I could sell you my exact system, but only .01 out of 99 would make 7 figures a year with it.

    Why?

It's MY system. Based on my knowledge, effort, mistakes, personality, desire, talent, etc.

Every now and then in the forum someone asks, "Why would the gurus sell their secrets? If it works so well, why don't they just do it and keep all the money for themselves?"

Because sharing the secret is not a threat. Most people cannot duplicate it. The system is based on a PERSON, not just a process. The more like the creator/author a buyer is, the more likely they can achieve similar results.

Of course, what most people want is a process absent the person. "Do X and you WILL get Y." That might work in math, but it doesn't work in business. There are too many unknown and uncontrollable variables. (Primarily aptitude, attitude and discipline.)

IF there is a formula it's what Dash said.

Learn. Apply. Learn. Apply. Learn. Apply. And over time you have a system that works perfectly... for you.

Sounds like you didn't learn anything from PaulMark's post above. THERE ARE NO SPECIFIC METHODS TO LEARN THAT WILL GUARANTEE YOU MONEY. The successful marketers learn different IM strategies (list building, SEO, article marketing, outsourcing etc...). From there, they combine whatever techniques that are efficient and effective together which becomes their own personal system.

What works for some people may not work for you. It is nice to have a blueprint, but what happens after you build a list and products is up to you. Your personality will play a great role in the way that you interact with your customer base. The way you interact will likely determine a certain kind of person that would follow you. That certain type of person may be more suitable for a certain type of product. There are many variables. Blueprints are great, but at some point, it's up to you.

      Hi Jason,

Is There A Formula For Success?
I'd say a simple formula would be: Find enough people willing to pay you for bringing them something of value.

The actual system(s) you employ to do that is really up to you. There are many existing, demonstrably successful business models - choose one that suits you and stick with it.

I agree with all that has been said in the previous posts. You will only learn by trying different methods as discussed in many threads throughout these forums. Bottom line...you need to develop a system that works for you. And, yes, there is some trial and error and it usually won't happen overnight.
I have 40 years in business ownership and management and have failed and succeeded just as any business person has. What I have found, though, is that there are a some things successful people have in common:
      • They research the business they are contemplating A LOT!
      • They put together a plan to implement that business
      • They set goals and try to stick with them
      • They persevere because it takes time to do it right
These are my thoughts based on my experience. The great thing about all that has been said is that your business will be very rewarding when things come together.

best strategy is stop coming to forums and asking for the formula.

Start testing everything out. Something will fail, other things will work ok, and then other things will work like gangbusters, so keep do the stuff that works.

    Say no more.

The formula for success is driven by one very, very simple concept.

    Lessons learned.

Every time you do something, you will either succeed or fail.

Before you do the next thing, stop and look at what you just did.

    Could you have done better?

    How?

After you do that, go on to the next thing.

    And do it better.

Most people just plunge ahead into one thing after another and never to the post-mortem analysis of what went right, what went wrong, and what to do different.

    Simple formula:

    1. Decide what you want to do. Most people are incapable of making decisions.

    2. Learn the skills necessary for accomplishing #1.

    3. Apply those skills on a consistent daily basis.

That's it... go forth and prosper.

There are numerous formulas for success. All of them take effort. If you think about it, having one method which leads you to the pathway of success is sort of like asking if there is one way to make a good batch of chocolate chip cookies. Of course not. It all depends on quality of the ingredients, equipment, ability to follow directions, working conditions, altitude, and so on. Whether a person achieves any level of success has numerous variables too. Bottom line is that plenty of determination, perseverance, and the ability to admit and learn from mistakes, must be evident for there to be any chance of success.

For me, I read and read, and then I started trying different things. And then I came to a decision about things I like to do, and the things I don't like to do. And now I do things I like, and I'm successful, and then I outsource the things I don't like, and then there are two successful people, me and the person I hired.

But with Internet marketing, there are so many avenues to take, and that's where it gets confusing. There is a new method everyday that makes a lot of money and is easy to do. I found when I decided, that I am going to do what I like to do, and get over the fear of failing, I became successful.

Fear holds a lot of people back, and it looks like failing but it's not. FEAR Is False Evidence/Events/ Appearing Real. So it's easier to keep looking for the secret formula than to get over the fear. Fear of the slap, fear of getting banned, fear of sandboxing, fear of working hard and not getting anywhere, fear of .....

Ignore the fear and push through it. That has been my formula for success.

    Hi Jason,

Everyone has given you good suggestions. Think of watching a bumble bee searching for nectar in a flower garden. He buzzes around , flitting here, flitting there... poking into flower after flower--and then he strikes gold. He finds a flower laden with nectar and sucks the life out of it.

IM is kind of like that. One has to flit around a bit to find a good flower, and when you find it go to work on it. Everyone has failures. Try to find something you enjoy and become the very best at it. Maybe its article marketing. Maybe its SEO. But don't spread yourself thin and try 20 different things. Be the very best at one and you will eventually succeed.

I want to give you one little tip. And I'm not suggesting you don't use your time wisely, but we all waste a certain amount of time every day. This may sound like a 3rd grade tip for kids, but it may help just a bit.

See if you can find a sheet of red and green construction paper. Cut out a 3" square of each color. On the red square write, "NOT AN INCOME PRODUCING ACTIVITY". On the green square write, "AN INCOME PRODUCING ACTIVITY".

Whenever you have your computer on, lean one of the squares on your screen. If you're on Twitter checking to see if your girlfriend has fed her cats yet today... yup, put the red square on your screen.

If you are creating a product, designing a web page, creating back-links... anything like that--put the green square up on your screen.

Sounds childish, but people might be surprised to find how much time they waste every day online. Most of the big guys are excellent time managers. If people don't manage their time effectively, they simply won't make it online. It's a simple thing but it can get you thinking about whether the time you spend is directly related to producing income online.

    --Good luck with it! --Mike

Yikes! That doesn't sound like a balanced ratio.

Maybe if you do a bit more of the Learn at the start, you might avoid doing so much of the Work, Work, Work later on.

Thanks for the feedback so far, Everyone.

Most of the replies are dealing with a marketing formula and I'd like to dig a little deeper than that and see if we can come up with some ideas that can positively impact our businesses.

The entire world operates by using systems. The economic system used by roughly 80% of the population today is some form of Capitalism. And the system of Capitalism is made of a group of individual systems - what we call businesses.

A business itself is made up of a group of systems and marketing is just one of those systems.

If we were to just focus the majority of our efforts learning the system of marketing, without first figuring out how the larger systems work when they're doing so at their peak, it puts limitations on the results our business can achieve.

Understanding the big picture - how the main system operates as well as how the systems that make up that system operate - makes it much easier to create a business that's set up to be successful.

Someone who's spent time learning how these larger systems work has an obvious advantage over someone who just has casual knowledge on the subject.

So that being said, would you say that there's a specific strategy or approach to building a business online that can be applied to predictably lead to its success?

I am not sure what you're asking. Isn't that the same question you had in the beginning? We've been saying the answer is NO.

But, I guess, if you want to think about it as a system, one of them could be search engine optimization.

Basically, you do keyword research to get a topic with good traffic volume with low competition. Then, build a SEO website around it to get some organic traffic. Keep repeating this "system" with many different keywords and you'll make a full time income at some point

              Hey Dash,

I'll try to be more clear.

The reason for this thread is to generate a discussion on the approach one takes when they decide they're ready to build their own business online.

A perfect example is what you just referred to in your last post.

Let's say John and Chris both decide they'd like to build their own businesses online.

John has limited business knowledge, but he's heard about the online success stories and he's willing to work hard, learn as much as he can about online marketing and take massive action.

Along his journey, he learns of a strategy that, in a nut shell suggests that he - "do keyword research to get a topic with good traffic volume with low competition. Then, build a SEO website around it to get some organic traffic. Keep repeating this "system" with many different keywords and you'll make a full time income at some point."

He follows that strategy and experiences some measure of success. He makes a few thousand dollars a month with it and he's fairly satisfied with his efforts.

Chris starts off with the same limited business knowledge, but he approaches things differently than John.

He decides that he's going to first spend a little time studying business, before he dives into the marketing side of things.

He learns that the economic system that businesses fall under is a value-based system. Common knowledge, of course, but he starts thinking about things from a different perspective.

By thinking of his business as a way to help improve people's lives, as opposed to primarily a way for him to make money, he realizes that profits will naturally follow.

He starts thinking about ways he'd like to make an impact and he finally decides that, due to his background in communications and the fact that he's passionate about helping people relate with one another better, he'd like to start a business as relationship coach.

He goes to work learning everything he can about both relationships and effective coaching. It takes him a few months, but he becomes an expert on the subject. .

Next he goes to work learning how to effectively create products and market his information.

After he understands how his business will look when it's running at its peak, he goes to work making it a reality. He creates product one - a low priced product that introduces himself to his market. As he's campaigning that, he's creating product two - a higher priced product that goes more in depth than product one. He then continues on until his whole suite of products are created and his business is running full force.

He makes 500k his first year and he's on pace to break two million in year two.

              ----------

Both men started out in the same place, but they had a different level of awareness and, because of that, they took different approaches to their businesses.

One looked for ways to make money and the other looked for ways to improve the lives of others.

Which person would we rather be?

That's the reason for this thread. For us all to take a moment and reconsider the way we're thinking about our businesses and see if there might be some adjustments we can make that could dramatically improve our results.

                Ok. I get it now.

But, the whole story can be summarized by my first post in this thread.

"The secret formula is: You Learn. Apply. Rinse and Repeat.
Work you butt off on whatever technique made you your first sale. That's pretty much it."

The second guy LEARNS more hence knows how APPLY his resources better. Then, he RINSES AND REPEATS the process that worked in the first product launch to a more profitable product.

So, yea, I guess that's the secret formula for success. It all comes down to KNOWLEDGE.

Absolutely. I completely agree. Knowledge is key.

That's exactly where I'm going with this.

Learn, apply, rinse, repeat is true, but we know that 'what' we learn will have a significant impact on the results we achieve.

Others have mentioned things like - hard work, determination, focus, taking action, ect., and these things are all important. But the fact remains that we can all be determined and focused on taking action and working hard in areas that limit our ability to be successful, and if that's the case, we may be working 10 times harder for 10% of our potential

The proper knowledge that you mentioned broadens our awareness of what's really going on and that broadened awareness then allows us to focus those qualities on higher producing activities.

So now the questions become -

How do we go about attaining that proper knowledge - What is it that we need to learn and why are we sure that's important?

Glad to see we agree on something.

That second question is easy to answer. Internet marketing has been here for quite a while. Long enough to allow many marketers to experiment in order to figure out what works or not. A numerous numbers of them are kind enough to publish their findings to the public. Examples of this can be seen in the forum when warriors come here to tell about their success stories.

All these stories usually have two things in common: Targeted Traffic and Monetization Methods.

Targeted traffic can be done through article marketing, SEO, PPC, list building etc... and monetization methods include adsense, cpa, clickbank and a bunch of other things.

If someone learn at least one of the traffic method along with one monetization ways mentioned above, then combine them efficiently to a marketing plan for a realistic period of time, it is almost guaranteed that the person will see a profit.

So, the smart thing to do would be to learn whatever technique is working for those who found success in IM. All the hard work has been done for the beginners. Seriously. All they have to do is read.

Knowledge is key, as is trial and error but you can get absolute information overload if you keep looking for the next magic pill.. You need to pick an area and make a plan that you stick to right through till it's a success.. I spent too many years jumping from one thing to the next before realising the potential of any strategy. Keep at it and it will start coming together, I'm finding success with exact domain websites, and things have happened from there.

                      Best of luck

Ya, work on one system until you get somewhere and don't keep jumping from one system to another. Someone mentioned SEO and building sites with search engine optimized keywords to drive traffic to the sites. This is one system. Another could be creating $7 reports and selling them on this forum as a WSO and build a list at the same time.

I don't think there is a formula for success. I used to think on people on drugs were losers but you got people who never touched drugs that are sociopaths. However, I will attempt to answer. Formula: right place, right time, right opportunity. Warren Buffett once said if he, and, Bill Gates was born in a different era, and, a different country he would not have been provided the opportunities he has.

    What you have to do...

You have to pick a niche market which you are good at it whether it is gaming, sports, ever green products and so on..

Once you pick your niche than pick your keyword main theme keyword and than sub keyword..

Than Plan how to market and than test the marketing..

It is a numbers game so need to play with numbers..

Than work with conversion rate and off course you need to track..

Than work with your ROI and if it is good..

Than rinse and repeat with different niche..

    1 niche $1000 per month
    5 niche $5000 per month
10 niche $10000 per month... as an example..

Why I gave the example because to understand how it works...

    I hope this heps..

    Thanks

There are certainly a lot of successful methods floating around this forum. Many of them may only work well for certain types of people that are interested in particular things or have certain skills. It really just depends on what you like and what your abilities are.

Personally, I build niche affiliate sites (mainly for Amazon) and make a great monthly income from them. It takes some hard work in the beginning to get the sites running, but now they just make the income every month with hardly any work at all.

There is a formula for success. However,

    - The internet is too vast, the competition too fierce and you need too much traffic.

    - You have to work very hard to get noticed, and in order to be respected and trusted.

Once you are finally respected and trusted and you have your customers, you will succeed.

However, everything is very instable. You depend on the situations. You may make many sales the same day, but have many days without any sales… unless you have a top ranking in all search engines and billions of visitors per day…

Thus, the success formula depends on flexibility.

Use all your talents and knowledge. If one field is problematic, work on something else at the same time, until you’ll get the traffic you need.

You have to be patient until you’ll manage to beat the competition. This part is the hardest one. You have to consistently work on sending more traffic to your websites, and on getting more conversions.

Lots of great Warrior ideas here, but the fact of ife that remains is that not everyuone is a warrior.

It doesn't matter what the pursuit is, offline business, IM, sports, MLM, politics, etc. there are going to be about 5% of those who start will succeed to any degree. That is why nearly 95% of all Americans either can't retire at 65, or live only on SS, or live off of friends and family.

This business is like any of those pursuits; you have to have focus, passion and an unrelenting desire to make it.

All said are true... But don't forget that above all else, is prayer. Have strong faith in God. And he will always guide you. You might have obstacles along the way but they are just part of the process to keep you stronger before you succeed.

Here's my take on a formula to success, be unique and original on a working business model. Always be keen to put yourself in uncomfortable situations and be prepared to make wise sacrifices.

Think about this: if you want to achieve an extraordinary life, you cannot expect to achieve this with ordinary standards and ordinary creativity

To that I would add focus. Without focused action and focused application of knowledge you can't get results. It's waaaaaaay too easy to lose focus in IM. Case in point: I dropped into the forum about 2 hours ago for what was supposed to be only 20 minutes - yikes! Seeya!

    1. Is there a formula for success?

    2. Is there an easy formula for success?

Answer to both is yes. And this is where people (including myself at times) complicate it. The answer lies in learning what Thomas Edison learned first then lived. It's not rocket science...it never has been.

Focus is HUGE. That is how I went from a low income job to fully supporting my family working at home with income to spare. Focus, dedication and a plan. Take what is making money and keep doing it. STOP doing everything else. Now, I'm working on duplicating my success (mainly with e-commerce) in the marketing arena... so far so good Dedication is key.
