Monetizing a Poker Webpage

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

I run an online poker site (Where I offer freerolls to users)

I get anywhere from 12,000 to 17,000 page views a day (Not bad considering the site is only 6 weeks old)

My problem is, what companies or what would work as far as ads for a gambling related sites? Many sites like adsense turn me down on the spot, just because we TALK about poker.

I can also make these guys do anything, watch movies, you name it.

The 2nd part of this, which is related to the first part. We have an internal poker client where the users wager 'points' against each other (Not real money). I can have ads in the background running and the users CANNOT turn them off. The would HAVE to look at them the entire time they are playing.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks

Sanguis

A clickbank product on how to play poker could work.

Could also try CPA - offervault.com

So basically the only or 'best' form of monetizing for these guys would be "They have to actually buy a product" ?

The issue is these are freeroll players, who are typically broke - degenerate gamblers who won't pay for anything.

Just put up referral banners for PokerStars, FullTilt, etc.

You can make A LOT of much with that much traffic.

Affiliate programmes for poker sites where you are paid per sign up.

You could do some survey CPA, get the freerollers to fill in a survey in return for a report on how to win at free tournaments.

Surveys, you are saying have them do surveys from survey sites (CPA Lead, Tapjoy etc?) Or something else? An actual survey that I create?

If I create one, how does that make me money?

    Just curious, what's your website?
I know of some poker 'school' sites which use referrals with a lot of the big name poker sites. If you are already getting that many visitors in 6 weeks then maybe you can shoot off an email to them.

      Pokerowned.com

Yes I think you are right, but the problem is (Along with the guy who said throw up some poker affiliate banners) these a freeroll players, who typically don't have or don't want to deposit any money ANYWHERE.

This site generally has the best deals with all the top poker affiliate programs: http://www.pokeraffiliatesolutions.com. You can make some serious money promoting poker especially with that sort of traffic.

    Sanguis,

I have a poker site and faced similar issues - the freebie hunters won't part with deposit money via affiliate banners/sign-up bonus offers and the like.

I've enjoyed some success with no-deposit sign-up offers to my poker list though that's getting harder as the no-deposit offers get rarer.

Why not add an advertise page to your site and list advertising options on there - that's all I did with my poker site and offers from people started to come in wanting to purchase text links, article placements etc.

Please drop me a PM - might be able to help you a little more.

    Yours,

    Andy

If you examine the poker and other "Betting" related products on ClickBank, the almost all universally stink as far as popularity and gravity are concerned, with many of them at 0. Now, while gravity is not the end-all-be-all in affiliate products, if it is at zero that means nobody is selling these products. Granted, most of these are billed as "How to get rich gaming the roulette wheel" - which anyone who has done basic math knows will not work, and is why these products do not sell well.

As far as selling actual membership to a gambling type site, that may do better if you can get ClickBank to accept it.

So, to boil all that down, I would stay away from CB for your type of product/service.

I'd probably do like a referral type deal with real gambling sites or like gambling forums. I know they all kind of have their own little poker deal, and it would drive a small % of business away from you, but either way you're still able to capitalize. So like bodog, 5dimes, bookmaker, sportsbook, etc. But if you don't like the idea of having them use their sites to play poker, then skip the ones with good poker systems within (like bodog or sportsbook). But also do the gambling forums if they'll pay you per click for their ad like covers.com, etc. I'd also attempt to do things with alcohol, sports, cigars/cigarettes. Attempt to put up ads that your demographic thinks about and is included in their lifestyle on a regular basis. Like trips to vegas, plane tickets, concerts/events, hotels, etc. Hope that helps man I'd be interested to see what you come up with and how things go. What's the name of your site?

My gambling sites only get about 300-500 views a day but my system works fairly well to get affiliate signups. I just have one horizontal affiliate banner on the top of the page, one vertical on the side, one horizontal on bottom and in the middle, i have a text link embedded within content. It is slightly cookie-cutter'ish but it works.
