Upload Issue - Anyone Out There With ISP Experience?

Hi all

I need HELP, fast.

Ive found the cause to some issues ive been having.

The problem is my upload speed.

Im on a bigpond ADSL2+ broadband plan.

Its probably the best i can get around here.

These are my results (dont laugh)

Download: between 6.00mbps - 12.00mbps avg: 8.55mbps

Upload: avg 0.88mbps

Im trying to upload a HUGE amount of video files. They are between 50mb and 100mb in size to a server located in New York.

I own the site yet im the only one that has issues uploading which is extremely embarassing.

There are no upload standards in Australia from what i understand.

Ive searched for options and cant find any. Im thinking i need to upgrade my isp and also upgrade all my hardware.

Can onyone please help.

???????????????????

Your upload seems a little slow with an average of 8.5 mbps down, I'd expect 2mbps up. You can call up some ISPs and ask for their plans, make sure to ask down speed. Upgrading your hardware depends on how old your stuff is, if it's 5 years old, you need new hardware. Most modern modems and routers will surpass the specifications supplied by your ISP. Hope that helps

I'm with TPG in Sydney and get 7mbps down, 0.87mbps up.

I took a quick look at TPG's website and can't see any clear information on upload speeds, they seem to focus on usage data and download speed (which can vary depending distance from the exchange).

You might get better information on the Whirlpool forum, they have specific threads on ISP's in australia.

    cheers,
    Simon

Upload speeds are always slower than download speeds -- My connection: Download speeds up to 30 Mbps; Upload speeds up to 2 Mbps.

It is very common to have upload speeds of less than 1mb on ADSL plans. What you are looking for a SDSL, or just DSL, without the (a). This would provide you the same upload as download speed. However, if it is like here in the USA these service are not always offered in all areas. ADSl is mostly a residential service. You may want to check if business plans are offered in your area.
