What mailing list service is everyone here using?

Did a quick search and couldn't really get a good idea on what seems to be the most widely used...

So yeah, what mailing list service are you using?

I use Aweber. It has always worked well - but the major drawback was when they got hacked. I still use them but if it happens again I may rethink!

    I'm with Aweber (and happy!).

Was just wondering if there was a service I didn't know about that everyone was using

Be sure to back-up your list daily and keep a copy of your campaigns.

If you do ANY affiliate marketing, you can and will lose your account with no warning.

    AWeber user here.

I have heard MailChimp is NOT for marketers...something about someone's list being deleted and no access to it because of breach of contract?...better search the forum for that, my friend.

    Hope to help.

If I were to start I wouldn't go by what is the most widely used... I'd be interested which one has the features I need.

Aweber has all the features I require.

Just wondered what else is out there - I'll check out Mailchimp properly at some point. I always hear good things about it.

It's totally free, and what's more, it gives you Twitter functionality out of the box, list replication, merge fields, tracking capabilities. Not bad for a free service, too bad not many people know about it and what it can do.

If you don't have the money and just starting use MailChimp. You can have 2000 people in your list for free. If you start earning money from the list and the list will be growing move over to Aweber.

If you start out using a free or cheap service and then when you start to make money (if only!), are you tied down by your first choice or is it easy to move a list to say Aweber?

Aweber will not allow you to import a list without having them opt-in again. Of course that can be a plus if you want to purge your list.

I am using AWeber and am very satisfied, but read the thread with interest as some options appear to be cheaper the big question is can they cope with lists of 100's of thousands? This is where we all want to be and I know Aweber can

I use mailchimp for a decent size list. It works very well for my needs. The tools to create, manage, track and report are very good.

But...as I understand it the T&Cs for mailchimp aren't suitable for all marketeers. Specifically things like importing lists of users that haven't explicitly subscribed to your emails i.e. importing lists that you've bought will get you in trouble. I could be wrong but I believe aweber is slightly more "flexible" in this area.

    Paul.

Aweber has pretty strict rules about importing lists. The recipients have to opt-in.

      Now that was funny!

And to head off the libel suit, I'm not trying to suggest that you were trying to suggest that Aweber is less ethical than Mailchimp!

I just went to MailChimp.com and read their TOS....seems restrictive, use with caution and check their TOS to make sure your niche isn't listed.

I don't mind paying AWeber, and I think an "autoresponder" is my favorite of all business tools, even though I REALLY need help with email marketing strategies, lol

I started with aweber, it is simple, easy to use.

I am concern about using free email autoresponder as I know it is not easy to transfer list from one provider to another one.
