Hi! i was wondering if we could get a discussion going on what you think the right amount of posts on a niche or micro niche site is. 5-7? more? less? its hard to tell.. and im a complete noob at IM.. so any feed back would help a ton!

It really can depend on how much you want to do. If it's an open niche and there are lots of longer tail keyword phrases, I tend to make more posts in an attempt to rank on the first page for as many phrases as possible.

The more the merrier. Remember the more posts you include the more related keywords you can try to rank for.

There's no limit as long as you have something to write and to post.

I usually set a rule of 10 minimum. You get people at your site longer, develop trust, and have more keywords ranking if you do your keyword research right.

Like people have said, the more the better.

I just wanted to chime in to mention you need to be careful about building "thin" sites, especially if you're using Adsense. Google doesn't like this kind of sites and is known to be cracking down on them lately. That's why I always think it's a good idea to get up as many posts as possible. Then, once the traffic starts coming in, I'd take a look at the kind of keywords people are using to find your site and write more posts on those long tail keywords.

    • I use blogs and post daily!

Google loves it and I get tons of additional long tail keywords that I just wouldn't get with a set number of posts. What's more, I can keep adding new content that is relative to whatever is going on in the niche today, which is necessary for the more volatile niches I'm in like mmo-gaming and making money online.

You don't have to use blogs to get on top of google search results but I find them the easiest, especially if you take advantage of the opportunities provided by guest posting.

Yes, I would say the more content you can provide to your niche the better. Just keep on supplying good quality content and you will see the listings update.

Once you have some good traffic coming from your site maybe update it every few days to keep it "fresh".

When I do start off a new niche site (which I haven't done for a while), I don't really start promoting it until I have 5 posts on the site. I don't know why - just habit, really. I like to have 5 "ready to go" before anyone sees it.

And a few outgoing emails for the autoresponder, of course. Always best to have (at least) "a few in hand".

My posts are typically long, though. So my "5" might be the same word-count as someone else's "10", I suppose.

      Hi

I think most has been said in previous posts, but continue adding content will make sure that Google looks at your site as a relevant site to keep in the rankings...

Google hates dead sites (never updated), thus throws them out of the rankings sooner then later...

      Keep on writing...

      Warm regards

    Hi...

I like to start off with 10 posts. Now, that could be 10 posts targeted at a specific keyword phrase (ultra micro niche), 5 articles each on 2 different keyword phrases (micro niche) or 10 articles on ten different keyword phrases (your standard niche blog).

Depending on what results I see will determine how many more posts to publish and which keyword phrases to target.

It all depends on what you're going to do and what type of niche it is. You may be able to get away with just a few posts and a couple of pages. Some niches may require what amounts to a mini-site. It all depends on the niche and your competition.

I would try and strike a balance. You want to focus on SEO, but also want to please an actual human visitor. Most people that hit a very slim niche site don't usually stick around for long.

It's your content that keeps them active, long enough to pre-sell them and send them off to your CPA offer or whatever else you what them to do.

When my friend does it, he posts about 6-7 and makes 200$ a month off each one. He sets them up in a couple of hours and backlinks them after that.

this is all good information!. i would like to make (from the description above) a micro niche focused on 2 keywords.. i have 2 posts now. but im having a hard time coming up with new content.. i would like to get enough posts that i can eventually just let it go and have passive income while i work on another site.

also im a noob so can you maybe discribe the difference of posts and pages.. i would like to make my website sturdy.. not cutting corners or anything. so i know what is all involved.
