What's your opt-in conversion rate?

So I was wondering whether or not I have a good opt-in rate. I'm in one of the sub niches of the IM niche and it's currently about 60%. What's your opt-in rate?

You don't have to give out your exact niche, of course...

It all depends on the market.

Across all of the industires i'm in...

My average Opt-In rate is 73.4%

My average Conversion (Sale) rate is 8.92%

Like Chris already said it does really depend on a lot of different factors, from market, to your page, to your offers etc. I've been able to get some of my pages to convert to opt ins at a wonderful 91% while some others are standing out at around 65% no matter what I do to them.

hmm... my average opt-in rate is about 18%

I'm not sure how I'd measure conversion rate from that because some of the people that opt-in buy and others never do. Then, some of them buy multiple times. So, is it total sales/total opt-ins or what?

Looks like i need to work on my copy... 18% is rather poopy I guess.

Also, i suppose a lot of that depends on the traffic sources and your funnel.

If i posted a bunch of classifieds on craigslist, the quality of traffic plummets and my conversion rate goes in the crapper. But if I'm using PPC, it seems to be pretty decent and I don't get near as many unsubscribers

Also, if your home page is a squeeze page, that's going to be different than if your home page is content, and you lead them to a page that is specifically for signups. The people going to that page are going there with the intention to sign up and thus your opt-in rate will be much higher... that doesn't mean you're getting more opt-ins... it just means your % is higher...

Good to see I'm not THAT low. I am currently aiming to get it into the 70s.

@ Chris: I'm sure you do some split testing to get that kind of a opt-in rate. Do you know of any good split testing software?
