Hey guys, I'm looking to make a new website that I guess you could describe as a ClickBank or Paydotcom clone. Basically, I want people to be able to sign up to sell their product on my site and list their product in my marketplace for publicity. And in exchange, I will take a small percentage of their profits for each sale that they make. And I absolutely would want a ClickBank-style login page where these guys can go in and see exactly how much money they made in commission for each day, the number of sales they've made, etc.

My question is: does anyone know of any pre-existing shopping cart software out there that would help me do this? I've heard of a couple of "multi-vendor" shopping carts, but I'm not sure if they're offering exactly what I want. If you don't know of any software, does anyone know of a skilled programmer who might be able to create such a thing?

I doubt a shopping is "enough" to do what you want.
You may need a specific custom script/software.

I guess there are many, even in the Warriors for Hire section here... or at the freelance coders sites.

Be careful whom you trust: I just heard about a case where the coder stole the idea from the person who came up with it.

Oh, and a project similar to what you described ahs been launched recently (a few months ago): digiresult.com

Are you going to handle paying affiliates and sending out 1099's as required too?

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

So you'll send checks? How you will pay affiliates?
    Just curious

    Hello,

You can google ClickBank Clone or so, if nothing found then you have to go to oDesk, Scriptlance or Freelancer and hire someone to do it for you

    Thanks

This type of script is a pretty big project, and thus very costly to develop by an freelancer. I can't post links but hit up "payloadz clone" or "Tradebit clone" in Google, you will definitely find something useful.

Try iScripts dot com. Of course it is no where near as complex as Clickbank. I talked to a guy there and told him I want something similar to Clickbank but on a much smaller scale. He said Clickbank is used with a multi-million dollar platform and iscripts can be thought of as a cousin to Clickbank's software. He also said the best way to check out what it can do is to try the live demo.

    Hi Joe,

A business model like Clickbank requires a lot more than a off-the-shelf script.

As a matter of fact the most important thing you have to have in place is support and backing from a 'Merchant Bank'.

Now, with state to state regulations and legalities, it gets a lot complicated and expensive to run something like clickbank. Well, that's just the beginning.

In 2003 I launched a clickbank model business called Payaah.com. The site did pretty good in the beginning with over 5000 vendors listing to sell their digital products with us.

We even had support from a Merchant Bank in Virginia. No sooner the chargebacks for the vendor products started hitting us - the bank got nervous and dropped us within 10 months.

Withing a period of 10 months, we also got sued by clickbank for copyright infringement. - that got settled out of court.

These problems only happens when you plan to "accept payments directly" from selling vendor's products and when a merchant bank is directly involved. We had to shut down the company as soon as the Merchant bank dropped us.

To prove this I wanted to list a link to the press release published, when we closed the doors to Payaah.com - I couldn't find that release anywhere online.

But here is an old discussion board post about Payaah.com.

ClickBankSuccessForum.com :: View topic - Why CB is Still Number One

I am proud to say that We were committed to paying all affiliate commissions on time, and that we did. :-)

I don't mean to be cynical or discourage anyone from perusing their dreams, but it's good to know what you are getting into before hand and prepare for it.

On the other hand, if you are not directly accepting payments for selling your vendor's products, but redirecting it to paypal or other payment processors, it should be less complicated.

Good luck with your project and hope everything works out for the best.
