Do Internet marketers have to use a pen name

I have websites in many different niches that I use pen names for. But there is one other thing other than helping others make money online, and internet marketing, which I use my name for.

But there is one niche I am passionate about, and I dont want to use a pen name, what are some of the advantages, or disadvantages of having my name and face on 2 totally different niches?

I used to speak with some success internet marketers about this issue too.

Sometimes, they'll use pen name to hide some of the niche websites they don't want people to find out. If they have their real name on all the money making sites, some people will make something similar and compete with them because it is profitable.

If you are going to be in a niche where your passion is, use your real name. It's because that niche you are going might be the niche you want to work on for the rest of your life. Using your real name will get more people to be familiar with your real name. When more people get to know that name, you can use it for product creation or seminars. If the niche is competitive, using your real name is important because your name might turn into a brand.

Of course there are many benefits I can't finish mentioning. But if you really like that niche, use your real name then.

I'm a big fan of pen names for multiple reasons. One major reason I use pen names is the benefit it provides if you employ an exit strategy. For example, if you build up a niche site and at some point you decide you want to sell it, if you used a pen name you can pass along the website and the identity it self to the new owner. If you had used your own name things would be abit more complicated. This can be a major issues if you develop a following were the writers persona is an actual selling point.

Great questions. I completely agree with Alex.

Id like to add if your testing a niche you can use a pen name, then when your sure it is working and you are passionate about it, rebrand it with your name and go for it!

I'm gonna start using a pen name in IM niche when I start to launch my products and whatever, mainly because I want people to remember my name with ease. Because my name is not that easy to remember I will use a pen name but also I am not going to hide my real identity.
