Wow, Talk about viral: 100 000 + Clicks in 1 Hour

Now I just wnat you to know I am not supportive of these methods they are using but I just thought this was VERY Interesting.

I have been just watching the clicks climb the past 5 minutes. Every minute I notice an increase in about 2000 clicks! LOL Wish I could get that.

If you're wondering don't click on the actual link as it's one of those "Osama Video" Spam links. It leads to a facebook fan page but they are using an app on the fan page.

I am actually frankly quite surprise facebook has let this go on so long. It seem to guide them through a series of process to hack their account and send messages to their friends.

I guess from this we can learn the viralness of facebook (But PLEASE DO NOT Do it Illegally) and how much more trusting friends are; willing to click links their friends send them.

I am just curious when facebook cut this down but they must be making thousands already I mean hundred thousand clicks in 1 hour!

bit.ly statistics for http://www.facebook.com/pages/Osama-Bin-Laden-Got-What-He-Deserved/171448106242515?sk=app_190322544333196

Just thought it was interesting to see it rise and thought some of you might like to monitor it as well for the fun of it and how much potential is in facebook. So far 200 000 clicks in one day; haha man I wish I could get that amount of clicks...legally of course lol

I still remember when the Viral FBML Code thing first launched how much profit spiked for thousands of marketers. If you can find something new on facebook there is a lot of profit to be made; and old methods still do work though but as Mark Burnett Said in his book Jump In; being Creative is risky business but the rewards are far greater. So which one of you is going to come up with the next viral (legal) method?

I'm getting kinda mad at all the links my friends are sending me of this but at the same time I know they're not personally doing it.

Haha yeh I know right; look at it climb. Man I mean this can be entertainment for me but at the same time I feel sorry for those to fall from it.

I also find it a little cruel to monetize off another person's death and at the same time wow, I am surprise how much clicks a current event can be maximized for.

I wouldn't know about that one; I would be curious as to how he monetized it though since I am not too sure of any CPA Networks that would be so kind to these sort of traffic.

Imagine the # of spam reports facebook must be getting slammed with right now.

I've also had someone try to send me this link through facebook. Guess it means their account is hacked.

Yeh I wonder how many accounts have been hacked from this; I know quite a few of my friends have. They also dont' seem to send to all your friends though; it seems randomly selected.

Must really suck for the users...and FB. I am expecting there'll probably be some huge legal fees if this goes on

I wouldn't recommend trying to pull a stunt like this.

I don't actually think it has anything to do with "viral popularity" beyond people clicking the so called security button and it automatically sending it to your friends...

It is more virus in a bad way than anything else since they are hiding the fact that it spams your friends.

Well I have to disagree, it does show facebook is viral and using the viral popularity such as in wall posts on friends wall which was part of the link going viral. It also appears they are using an application on a facebook fan page.

Although they are using virus which is not at all recommended it still does proof that facebook is viral.

Else they wouldn't be able to take it off at all. You see most of it is posting on friend's wall; it shows that wall post does indeed influence action especially if you know someone with some curiousity you'd want to check it out.

You can still do the same thing without the virus perhaps with an application; for example those annoying farmville barns.

So wall post do work; and also the friend connection as people always say you buy from friends and not strangers (well not always true though; take a look at the TV marketers. They definitely don't try to sell you as their friend)

Haha, I guess if you do it correctly legally such as the use of events and several other aspects might be a good idea.

It does proves facebook is viral; and if used in the correct way, legally can be some good and heafty profit. Of course there is also the blackhat way but it's never sustainable and leaves a bad taste in the mouth

I hate to imagine the # of accounts being hacked; the people losing their network. Friends (like me) pissed off and the legals fees that might come (depends).

They should close the loophole soon. These things don't last very long, and it is not sound business structure. Besides, they have to pay taxes on all that money they make.

Smart but not for the serious marketer. I envy the traffic but wonder whether any of it is converting to income?

The risks you take by going into this type of scheme are temendous, especially when you can get targeted traffic from legit sources to create ongoing income.

    Just my opinion.

    Cheers,

Let me clear something up for you guys.

1:"Oh god, those god awful spammers"

A few million people had a couple spammy messages. So what? Give em a break, you deal with incredible amounts of bs all freaking day, why get all hot and bothered over a tiny message on your wall or inbox.

        2:"How are they monetizing this?"

There are an infinite number of ways to monetize trending traffic, content locking/cpa being the main one.

3:"How much are they making off this?"

        $Lots.$

Take home message: Don't hate the player, hate the game.
