Youtube or Vimeo for Video Marketing?

Between the two well known sites, which do you prefer?

If you feel there's a better site for videos, what do you recommend?
#marketing #video #vimeo #youtube

    Youtube...

Google always takes the cake in the modern world. Although there's no harm in using both.

I have been doing video marketing for the last 2 weeks and I can tell you that Vimeo videos dont show up in google. You would think that a PR9 site would show up but they dont...at least with no backlinks.

What I found is youtube, dailymotion/metacafe are tied, and then viddler is what google likes. But the problem with dailymotion/metacafe is that they don't have clickable links.

I have seen some videos on dailymotion have clickable links but don't know how they did it. If anyone can share that would be great.

Deanmoney, thank you for the insight on this. I was unaware that Vimeo videos did not show up on Google.

I've noticed the same thing. I stand by You Tube and Viddler.

Youtube/Viddler/DailyMotion/MetaCafe... but really depends on what market I am working on. Some stuff works way better outside Youtube.

YouTube wins by a mile. Google video used to be good, too, but they're shutting that down now.

Youtube is the winner by far, however I also use the following which show up in the SERP's-

    Kewego
    Videojug
    Veoh

Plus the others people have mentioned here.

Vimeo isn't that popular in some places. Youtube is better, could create massive traffic.

I would stick with YouTube as well. Most everyone has heard of YouTube, but Vimeo is still unknown by many. You will be able to reach a lot more people doing both using a service like Tube Mogul, but if you were to just pick one, I would go with YouTube.

Nothing beats YT for sheer exposure. But you should still use the other smaller video sites as well.

    The answer is....
Neither - not if you understand the fundamentals of direct response marketing!

Youtube is great for brand marketing. But!
    1) when you get your users to take action do you want them clicking on a link to a sales page or to another video - or if you use youtube ppc, an add that one of your competitors placed on your videos...

Imagine for a minute Trumpia Tim that you spend a lot of time and money to create a lovely video....

Then you place it on youtube....

Some smart and direct-response savvy marketer from EZ Texting or Mobile storm comes along and places an Ad on YOUR video on youtube - since you are using a free, ad supported platform, they can do that...

My advice for anyone who really "gets" direct response is to check out what the real players are doing in the Direct Response TV group say on places like Linkedin.

Now of course I am not saying that places like Youtube and Vimeo don't have their role - I just think that directing all traffic to the idea place makes more sense.

Also, there's a lot of room for using Facebook marketing that many people don't even know about - but I digress

Ummmm.... hands down, 100% no questions asked, YOUTUBE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why? It is the 2nd largest search engine next to google and the 3rd most visited site behind google and facebook. So, of course google will show favor to you tube since they own it. If you create a video, you should always stick it in your you tube account. You never know where it may end up, especially if you know how to do video SEO ;-)

Youtube seems to be definitely the most popular, but I always thought Vimeo was superior in quality. It sucks how Vimeo videos don't do anything for SEO though, that's a huge drawback for my consulting company.
