Delete Everything! It helps....

So after a year and a half of holding on to all of the guides, ebooks, videos and so forth I've downloaded over time I finally decided to delete all of that stuff yesterday. All I can say is it's a great feeling. 98% of it I will never go back and look through. Once you've learned that stuff, you know it. How often have you ever gone back and re-read an ebook? Not many I imagine.

Not only did it feel great it just felt like a mental relief. I urge you to delete all of the old crap you don't need anymore and only keep what is pertinent to what you are working on, it helps.

Cheers,
Neil

The funny thing if I want to delete something is...I always thought that I may need that stuffs someday. So I always hesitate to delete, though until now I don't use them at all

I might have to delete one of my email accounts due to a WF marketer who manages to get numerous messages through, in spite of my unsubscribing and also adding a junk email filter. It can get frustrating. I didn't expect that to happen with a WF marketer. Disappointing. Better to just get rid of the email account as suggested...

I just archive stuff to an external hard drive. Then, if I ever do need something, I can still get at it.

And, yes, I do still sometimes find I have a need for older things, including old eBooks.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

That's a good point, external hard drive is also a good idea. I guess the point is however you do it, get it off your computer and out of your way.

I save everything and move all the old stuff to CD/DVD as needed or at least once a year. Generally, I leave the last week or so of e-mail on my PC, and only those other files I've been using in the past month; label, date, and store in the original spinal container with all the others.

          Terrible idea....

Unless you have done one thing, and that is written down the main lesson (or what you have learnt) in another handy file.

Most ebooks or tutorials have one or two tips that you will reuse, the rest is standard stuff.

I have a master mindmap which has all my tips listed in an orderly way. So if I'm doing something with blogging I can look down the blog stem and see all the things I both should be doing and could be doing to improve my chances of success.

If I read something and the idea excited me, i simply rewrite the basic idea in one sentance and add it to the mindmap.

Now I can throw away all my ebook but I still have all the key information at my fingertips.

and no, I've been asked many times to sell this mindmap, but i will not as it would simply be useless to you - as its written for me, so go start writing you own...

What a waste of money would that be. But it's a sound advice. You really don't need to buy and read many courses, ebooks, videos, etc. to become a well-rounded Internet marketer. You can learn more by doing things instead of reading and then forgetting to apply what you've learned.

I know I know, I should have said to put it on an external hard drive first! I actually back up almost daily so I have a lot of it on there. So for my lack of clarity . The main point is clear the clutter so you can focus on the main tasks at hand, it feels a lot better that way!

I think the idea of relegating data to a Mindmap is fascinating. Is there a tutorial somewhere?

            Thanks,

Don't worry Diane, I have a top level, household name "Guru" who I've unsubscribed from, oooh, 30 or so times? Conveniently now, when I click the unsubscribe button it goes to an error page and the pitches keep coming.

I've got round the problem by reporting the last 8 or so emails as spam, all his mail goes in that folder instead now.

Don't delete everything, but just copy from the ebook info that useful and other info is crap just delete it. From the useful info make a new pdf along with other useful info from other ebook as well.

    This is my way.....

I have never reread an ebook. What's the point of doing so? Since you already know what's in it.

      Right on, Dan.

I also use an external hard drive for this purpose. This has another advantage: your data are virusfree - while your PC may be infected any time.

Richard, this phenomenon isn't unknown to me.

I started to get offers afresh from seven people who I tried to unsub from in the course of time. Big names. Seems to me, they archived data and think we forgot that unsub, so they can send offers reapeatedly. Their emails arrives to the spam folder now and deleted.

Mike, agreed. Focus on your important thing is more useful than waste your time with reading trash.

I actually hate trying to read a pdf ebook online. I like to print things out and put it in a notebook. I guess thats kind of old school but it makes it so much easier to refer back to.

I have a pile of folders now of online poker ebooks that are useless to me now that poker is dead in the US. Now I have started a collection of IM, stuff! Its much cheaper too.

Anyway, I think your original idea to get crap out of your way is a good one.

I'm exactly the same. I've no idea why but I find it very hard to read books online. If I print them out, I'm fine.

Weird really because both pages look exactly the same, printed or not
