Second post I've made lately explaining that I am in no way a technical person....

I am wanting to put a link to a PDF file on a website, but don't even know where to start. There are plenty of sites out there that say click HERE (here being a link) and it immediatly brings up a PDF document. That's what I need to do.

do you want to do that on your own website?

    are you ok with html?

the code should look something like this...

    http://yourwebsite.com/brochure.pdf

so you need to upload the pdf to the net first.

then find the location of the pdf, open it in your browser, copy the url & paste that in the html of your site.

did any of that make sense?

    lets start at the beginning...

    you have a website?
or a blog at blogger or wordpress or quidoo?

if you have your own website - have you uploaded stuff before?

    do you understand ftp?

just trying to get a feel for where you're at

if you dont have your own website you can use Box.net - Online File Storage, Internet File Sharing, Online Storage, Access Documents & Files Anywhere, Backup Data, Send Files

you open a free account and follow their instructions to upload the file, then they give you a url to use to access your file.

I'll be around for about 10 - 15 minutes if you want help, then I think then Bloke will throw something at me to get me off the 'puter!

Yes, I have quite a few websites. I know what ftp is, but don't have much experience working with it.

I have them outsourced, lol. The one I'm doing myself is simple site that I have hosted with Godaddy. I'm just using their site builder. WYSIWYG type thing.

In order to get the ebook to automatically open up Arobat reader, it will need to be uploaded as a .pdf

      Traci,

As for the original question of how to get the link to open, you mention a WYSIWYG - There might be a media upload button in the management. Or you might have to upload the file to a directory on your site, and then create a link (with the WYSIWYG) that links directly to the PDF.

PM me if you'd like me to give me a temp access for me to take a look and see for sure. Every system is a little different, but I'd be willing to take a look and help you out.
