A Paypal merchant account let's someone take credit cards and process them with their virtual terminal. Cost is approx $30 mo and I've had good luck with the service using it for Canada, Mexico, US. I use it in place of having a credit card machine to process customer cards- no equipment to buy.

PS- It took me a year to figure this out- call and complain about the transaction rate % and they will give you a better one.(merchant account).

Very recently PayPal has finally made it's virtual terminal available to Canadian merchants too! I've heard a lot of great things about it from my friends in the U.S. and U.K. so I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Any fellow Canadians out there who have used it yet? Do you like it?

It's a killer feature for small business owners, especially those outside USA for whom it is harder to get a Merchant Account.

Paypal Website Payments Pro is where it's at!

WorldPay can be pretty expensive from what I remember. For smaller businesses, Paypal might be a better option. my 2c.

ccbill.com is another but they take a large % of each sale. Popular with adult sites.

There's a list of over 50 payment processors in the link below. They are the processors integrated with the 1ShoppingCart system.

    Go with http://www.okpay.com
They accept all types of cards and payment methods.

Thats been a long question for people looking for alternates to Paypal & So am I...

Google checkout & Plimus seems to be the good ones which are performing well from years back & have good clientele associated with them.

I would rather go with 2CO, an option which is best for both me & my clients always !!!
